Description:

The SFDC & GTM Applications Technical Lead serves as the company’s subject matter expert for designing, building, integrating, and continuously improving scalable solutions across GTM and revenue systems. This role focuses on complex Salesforce work, system integrations, automation, data flows, and technical troubleshooting. While the role will act as the company’s CPQ subject matter expert and single process owner for the remainder of the CPQ lifecycle, it also requires strong technical judgment across current and future systems.

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of systems thinking, GTM platform expertise, and business judgment. Rather than building before fully understanding the problem, they evaluate requests through both business and technical lenses, assess downstream impacts, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and deliver practical solutions that improve scalability, data integrity, user experience, and operational efficiency.

This role operates with a high degree of autonomy, owns complex cross-functional initiatives, and helps shape the long-term direction of Salesforce and GTM systems while partnering closely with Sales, Finance, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, and technical stakeholders.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

GTM Systems Strategy and Salesforce CPQ

  • Own the Salesforce CPQ domain end to end, including product setup, bundles, pricing rules, discounting logic, quote templates, approval workflows, renewals, amendments, and quote-to-cash issue resolution.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert and decision-maker for CPQ process design, platform standards, and future-state roadmap.

·        Apply strong technical judgment across Salesforce and connected GTM systems to determine when to use Apex, Flow, managed package capabilities, APIs, middleware, or custom development to solve business problems.

  • Identify process friction, technical debt, and operational risk across the revenue lifecycle and drive improvements that increase efficiency and reduce manual work.

Solution Design and Platform Administration

·        Design scalable business system solutions using the right mix of declarative configuration, platform automation, integrations, and custom development.

  • Lead or support complex Salesforce configuration and enhancements, including custom objects, fields, flows, validation rules, approvals, record types, permissions, page layouts, and user experience improvements.
  • Evaluate when to use low-code versus coded solutions, considering reliability, supportability, performance, security, and ease of administration.

·        Translate business needs into sustainable system solutions, bridging technical and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and practical for end users.

  • Integrations, Data, and Quote-to-Cash Operations
  • Support integrations and data flows between Salesforce and all relevant GTM and operational application systems.
  • Understand and troubleshoot how data moves across systems, including mapping logic, source-of-truth decisions, sync behavior, and downstream impacts.
  • Partner with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve integration issues, improve data reliability, and reduce failure points across connected systems.
  • Delivery, Release, and Operational Excellence
  • Lead system-related initiatives from intake through discovery, design, build, testing, documentation, deployment, and post-launch support.
  • Support testing strategy, sandbox validation, release readiness, production monitoring, and issue resolution for system changes.
  • Support or coordinate technical work involving Flow, Apex, SOQL, Lightning components, APIs, middleware, and third-party tools where needed.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for system design, configuration standards, process flows, test plans, release notes, and support procedures.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner closely with Sales, Finance, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, Legal, and leadership to gather requirements and align solutions to business outcomes.
  • Lead through influence across teams, clarifying requirements, challenging assumptions, surfacing tradeoffs, and driving sound decision-making.
  • Communicate clearly on priorities, risks, solution options, and implementation impacts with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders on GTM system capabilities, limitations, governance, and best practices.
  • Support change management, training, and adoption efforts to ensure teams understand new processes and use the platform effectively.

Continuous Improvement and Governance

  • Stay current on Salesforce platform capabilities, GTM system trends, automation patterns, integration approaches, AI-enabled tools and functionality, and relevant best practices.

·        Use technical expertise and business context to evaluate new tools, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities that simplify GTM processes, reduce manual work, improve decision-making, strengthen system sustainability, and support GTM efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Contribute to broader Salesforce and business systems strategy by identifying opportunities to simplify the stack, improve supportability, and strengthen business continuity.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in Salesforce administration, business systems, revenue operations, or Salesforce solution delivery roles.
  • 3+ years of direct experience owning or administering revenue systems, including Salesforce CPQ, in a complex B2B SaaS or similarly complex commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce CPQ concepts, including product and pricing logic, pricing workflows, approval structures, and renewals/amendments operations.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across technical and business teams.
  • Proven ability to independently assess ambiguous business or system problems, recommend practical solutions, and execute with limited oversight.

Required Technical and Functional Skills

  • Deep expertise in revenue systems administration and configuration, including product setup, pricing rules, quote templates, approvals, guided selling, renewals, and amendments.
  • Strong Salesforce platform knowledge, including security models, data model design, automation architecture, integration patterns, and scalable configuration practices.

·        Technical fluency across no-code, low-code, managed package, integration, and custom solution options, with the ability to recommend the best approach after reviewing options and trade-offs.

·        Strong understanding of how GTM systems, data, and controls support the full revenue lifecycle, including quoting, contracting, renewals, billing handoffs, and related processes.

  • Experience partnering with vendors and business stakeholders to define requirements, evaluate solution options, and deliver and support scalable business systems.
  • Ability to make practical technical decisions that balance business urgency, system scalability, data quality, and integration impacts with long-term maintainability, supportability, and governance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce CPQ Specialist certification or deep hands-on Salesforce CPQ experience
  • Salesforce Platform App Builder, Advanced Administrator, or Developer 1 certification.
  • Experience supporting integrations, data flows, and business processes across Salesforce and connected systems, such as ERP, billing, contract management, sales, customer tools, or other GTM applications.
  • Experience in SaaS, subscription revenue, or high-growth operating environments.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled workflow design, process automation, or business systems optimization initiatives.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
