Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SAP Release Manager to oversee and manage the release cycles of SAP applications and systems, ensuring the seamless integration of changes across the organization for a federal client. This role is critical to maintaining system stability while delivering high-quality solutions that align with business objectives.

As the SAP Release Manager, you will be responsible for managing release planning, execution, and deployment processes, leveraging your expertise in SAP Change Request Management (ChaRM) and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve successful releases. Strong communication and client-facing skills are essential, as you will act as the primary liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate monthly SAP release cycles across SAP ECC/CRM/SRM/Portal/SAC/PI, including planning, scheduling, and communication of release timelines.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the OpenText Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool to include but not limited to the management of release planning and execution of scope queries, compliance with ensuring timely recording of ticket progress updates, and ensuring ALM serves as the ‘system of record’ in the recording of requirements progress and the recording of test evidence, cutover deployment instructions, and release notes for end user communications.
  • Lead weekly Change Control Board (CCB) meetings to define release scope and review status  and obtain approval for proposed system changes. 
  • Serve as the support facilitator of weekly Defect Review Board (DRB) meetings to obtain stakeholder approval and prioritization of change requests and reported system defects.
  • Develop and facilitate contractually obligated gate reviews, to include release Test Readiness Review (TRR), Production Readiness Review (PRR), and Operational Readiness Review (ORR) deliverables.
  • Utilize SAP ChaRM to manage change requests, track implementation progress, and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project managers, development teams, and business stakeholders to identify release dependencies and mitigate risks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all release-related activities, ensuring effective communication and alignment across teams.
  • Establish and enforce release management best practices, tools, and standards to ensure consistent and efficient deployment processes.
  • Lead small teams responsible for release management, deployment and automated testing activities.
  • Serve as the party responsible in the cyclical updating of the Release Management Plan (RMP) documentation to ensure accuracy of existing processes and program compliance requirements. Similar oversight responsibilities for the program Configuration Management Plan (CMP) and program Test Management Plan.
  • Create, operationalize, and manage Agile processes for all releases; tasks included modifications of existing release processes and templates, changes to supporting tools such as ChaRM, and training the functional and technical resources on the new processes

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as an SAP Release Manager or similar role, with a strong background in SAP systems and module and SAP software component upgrades.
  • 5+ years of SAP Supply Chain experience
  • Proficiency in SAP Change Request Management (ChaRM), including configuration, administration, and reporting.
  • Experience with solution manager configuration, maintenance, and administration experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with a proven ability to manage relationships and expectations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple releases in a fast-paced, enterprise environment in compliance with AQLs or related Quality Assurance activities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Minimum of two years of experience leading programs/projects in a multiagency, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Must be a US citizen

Preferred Skills

  • SAP S/4 experience
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies, tools, and practices.
  • Experience with release management tools and processes in a global organization

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$85,900-$189,100
