We are seeking a Segment Marketing Manager, Oncology to drive the adoption of Oxford Nanopore sequencing across the clinical and research oncology markets. This is a strategic but highly execution-focused role, responsible not only for helping build the global oncology segment strategy, but for translating that strategy into tangible outputs that accelerate revenue and customer engagement. Please note this role involves up to 40% travel, including internationally.
The Details...
The Segment Marketing Manager will own the development and execution of the global oncology marketing and go-to-market initiatives across critical application areas. You will identify growth opportunities and help shape the global oncology roadmap, while ensuring strong commercial activation across regions. A key focus of this role is enabling the commercial organization in close collaboration with product management through clear value propositions, differentiated positioning, impactful customer-facing materials, structured sales trainings, and practical commercial enablement tools.
This individual will serve as an internal and external subject matter expert for the oncology segment — bringing deep knowledge of market dynamics, competitive landscapes, customer segments, and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Oncology Segment Director to define and refine the global oncology segment strategy, translating strategic priorities into clear, executable commercial plans that drive measurable growth.
- Own execution of global go-to-market initiatives that accelerate adoption of Oxford Nanopore products and solutions across oncology applications, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regional commercial priorities.
- Develop and deliver high-impact commercial assets, including application-focused collateral, value propositions (e.g., methylation analysis, transcriptomics), sales messaging frameworks, and customer-facing materials that directly support pipeline progression and revenue growth.
- Design and implement practical sales enablement tools and structured training programs for Sales, Technical Support, and Field Application Scientists (FAS), ensuring teams are equipped to confidently position and differentiate oncology solutions.
- Collaborate closely across the marketing organization to guide priorities, support regional activation plans, and ensure consistent global messaging and positioning.
- Work cross-functionally with Product Management, R&D, Applications, Regulatory, and Marketing Operations to align product capabilities with oncology market needs and support successful new product introductions and lifecycle management.
- Partner with stakeholders across the broader Marketing team (Campaigns, Digital, Regional Marketing, Events, and Program Management) to develop segment-specific messaging, campaign strategies, and integrated activation plans that resonate with target audiences.
- Develop customer success stories, case studies, and thought leadership content that demonstrate real-world impact and increase adoption of new techniques and technologies.
- Collect and synthesize Voice of Customer (VOC), market data, and competitive insights to continuously refine positioning, messaging, and segment-specific enablement tools.
- Serve as the internal and external Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the oncology segment, presenting at key global conferences and working with marketing program managers, regional marketing, and event teams to plan impactful market engagement activities.
- Provide market-driven insights to influence product roadmap decisions and identify new growth opportunities within existing and emerging oncology applications.
What We’re Looking For...

- Significant experience in oncology and next-generation sequencing (NGS) markets; capital equipment experience is a plus.
- Commercial experience in Marketing, Product Management, Market/Business Development, or Alliance Management within life sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a global role — setting direction, prioritizing initiatives, and delivering results with minimal oversight.
- Proven experience developing and delivering global segment or market strategies.
- Strong ability to influence without authority and build cross-functional alignment, including securing agreement from executive leadership.
- Deep knowledge of oncology market dynamics, customer segments, and clinical/research workflows.
- Strategic problem solver with strong analytical skills, paired with focused execution.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated scientific concepts into clear, compelling messaging for diverse audiences.
