About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will become a key contributor to our mission. In this full-time position, you’ll report to the Assistant Controller and take ownership of essential accounting functions, including maintaining the general ledger, overseeing the Procure-to-Pay process, administering payroll, and supporting audits. You’ll collaborate across teams to enhance financial systems and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance of the company's general ledger, including key areas such as cash, inventory, prepaid assets, leases, accrued expenses, debt, and equity
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Oversee the end to end Procure-to-Pay process, including contract administration, invoice coding and approval workflows, and timely execution of payments
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor discrepancies in vendor transactions
- Administer bi-weekly payroll processing and prepare financial reporting of payroll
- Support audit processes as needed, providing necessary documentation and analysis
- Support the ongoing improvement of time and expense reporting systems
- Ensure financial records comply with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations
- Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of financial systems, processes, and internal controls
- Collaborate with cross functional teams
- Assist in ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of three years of Big 4 accounting firm or corporate accounting experience.
- Ability to develop, recommend and implement procedures
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong understanding of internal control principles (SOX)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Strong Excel skills
- Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Aptitude and motivation to learn and assume new responsibilities
- Hands on and detailed orientated
- Must be goal oriented and a team player
- Must have excellent customer service attitude
- Ability to thrive in a deadline driven, fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Experience with NetSuite
- Background in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector
- Experience working in a startup environment
Salary
- $118,000 - $144,000
