GiveCampus is the world's leading fundraising platform for non-profit educational institutions. Trusted by 1,300+ colleges, universities, and K-12 schools, our mission is to help advance the quality, the affordability, and the accessibility of education. We received a seed investment from Y Combinator in 2015 and have pursued a strategy of 'Sustainable Growth' ever since: achieving six consecutive years of profitability and positive cash-flow while more than quadrupling our revenue, our customer base, and our team. In 2022, we raised $50 million to accelerate the next stage of our growth.

Through The GiveCampus Social Mobility Initiative, we've donated $1 million in free fundraising support for programs that help low-income students, first-generation students, and underrepresented minorities. And in 2022 and 2023, we were named to Y Combinator's Top Companies list and the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies.

While we operate at meaningful scale (we've facilitated more than $6 billion in charitable giving), we’re still small relative to the commercial and social good opportunities in front of us. Every GiveCampus employee has a substantial impact on our trajectory, and we're growing to help schools achieve even greater results.

Our purpose-driven team of 120+ is located across the US: team members work from anywhere they choose. We have a beautiful 12,000 sf office in Washington, DC that is available for people to use whenever they want, and we regularly organize team meet-ups, events, and retreats in various locations. We're looking to expand our team with diverse and collaborative doers who believe in our mission and the transformative power of affordable, high-quality education.
Location: This is a remote-first role based in the U.S. While we embrace flexible, distributed work, we also value in-person connection. Team members are expected to attend multiple company-wide and team-specific onsites throughout the year.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to become a key member of the Finance team.  This role is ideal for someone who enjoys finding new solutions, continually improving processes, thrives in a fast paced environment, and has a knack for detail.  We are looking for someone with experience in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) revenue recognition, contract management and general ledger activities.  This person’s primary work experience will be in the commercial sector, not in the federal contracting or non-profit sectors.  We are already highly transaction-driven and use automation and innovation to drive operational efficiencies.  This person embraces technology, tools and process to get tasks done accurately and timely.  We are a start-up, so this person likes a fast-paced environment and views change as an opportunity, not an issue.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage GL close and account reconciliations
  • Perform month end close - transactions, advanced reconciliations, journal entries and schedules
  • Manage the record to report process in Netsuite, including financial statement reporting, implementing amortization schedules and best practices around the use of Netsutie.
  • Manage the collections process for our customers - including implementing metrics that show how we’re performing and potentially implementing a new tool to assist
  • Assist with evaluating and implementing new tools and processes
  • Assess impact of GAAP principles and implement them
  • Assist with the annual audit
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Other ad hoc duties as needed

What we are looking for:

  • CPA or public accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles, especially ASC 606
  • Expert user of Netsuite, Excel and Google sheets
  • Expert understanding of financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with implementation of tools to create efficiencies
  • Experience streamlining processes and reducing manual work
  • Experience using AI in your work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Impeccable integrity, ethics, and confidentiality
  • Ability to identify and escalate business issues
  • 7+ years of accounting experience demonstrating increasing responsibility and scope
  • Established right to work in the US

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
