3Pillar warmly extends an invitation for you to join an elite team of visionaries. Beyond software development, we are dedicated to engineering solutions that challenge conventional norms. Envision you: steering projects that redefine urban living, establish new media channels for enterprise companies, or drive innovation in healthcare. Your invaluable expertise will serve as the cornerstone in shaping the future direction of our endeavors.

This role transcends the ordinary realms of coding; it's about orchestrating technological marvels that disrupt industries. Seize this extraordinary opportunity to lead a team that is actively shaping the tech landscape for our clients, and sets global standards along the way. 🌍🔥

Overview

We are seeking a talented senior AI / automation engineer, contract to hire (6 months) to join our client’s new AI Enablement squad. You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying agentic workflows, process automation, and AI-integrated solutions that drive productivity and accuracy across the firm. This role is a key part of turning AI from ad hoc experimentation into a governed, scalable capability. You will work closely with product management, data engineering, and security to deliver pilot use cases, reusable workflow patterns, and policy guardrails. This role reports into the Head of AI.

The tech stack uses AWS as the cloud platform, enabling scalable and secure infrastructure. The infrastructure is managed using Terraform, with Docker and AWS Lambda for containerization and deployment.  GitLab is relied upon for CI/CD processes to ensure smooth and efficient software delivery. The AI footprint and strategy is young, evolving, and carries significant opportunity. There is a chance to heavily influence the AI tooling and workflow landscape at our client company, including agentic frameworks, orchestration patterns, and integration with the existing AWS and data platform infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

    • Design, build, and deploy AI agent workflows that enable measurable efficiencies across business functions

    • Implement orchestration patterns including single-agent and multi-agent systems with appropriate state management

    • Integrate AI capabilities with existing tools and platforms via APIs, plugins, and function calling

    • Define and enforce guardrails for agent behavior, capabilities, and permissions in partnership with product and security

    • Build reusable automation patterns and templates that can be adopted across teams

    • Work alongside our data platform team to enable AI-driven analytics and reporting tools

    • Implement monitoring, observability, and feedback loops for deployed AI workflows

    • Ensure responsible AI practices, including fairness, transparency, and risk mitigation

    • Evaluate and recommend AI tooling, frameworks, and model providers based on business needs and cost

    • Stay current on industry trends, emerging AI capabilities, and best practices in automation engineering

    • Mentor engineers on integrating AI into their development workflows

Qualifications:

    • 7+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years focused on AI/ML, automation, or agentic systems.

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

    • Hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents, LLM-based workflows, or intelligent automation solutions.

    • Strong proficiency with Python and modern AI/ML frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, AWS Bedrock, or similar).

    • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including Lambda, Fargate, Glue, and other serverless technologies.

    • Deep understanding of API design, integration patterns, and event-driven architectures.

    • Strong knowledge of data management, security, quality, and governance best practices.

    • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions with clear, phased delivery plans.

    • Strong Agile proficiency with practical application to deliver incremental, high-quality solutions.

    • Excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of influencing both technical and business stakeholders.

    • Ability to manage complex project timelines in fast-paced environments.

    • Experience working in a regulated industry and/or Financial Services.

    • Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders.
