Phantom is the modern money app used by tens of millions around the world. Our product combines everything people need to manage, spend, and grow their money in one simple, intuitive experience. Phantom brings all the control and flexibility of crypto-powered finance, without unnecessary complexity, into mainstream consumer finance.

By combining industry-leading security with thoughtfully designed tools, Phantom makes powerful financial tools feel approachable and easy to use. This focus on speed, control, and user experience has fueled rapid growth, with a community of 20M+ people, reaching #1 in the Google Play Store finance category, and consistently ranking as a Top 50 app across all categories, alongside some of the most recognizable consumer technology platforms in the world.

About the role

IT Engineering (ITE) at Phantom is responsible for how the company actually runs.

Everything from onboarding flows to access control to internal tooling — if it touches employees, devices, or company operations, we either own it or improve it. Increasingly, that also means using AI to remove entire categories of manual work.

This role is for someone who wants to treat internal infrastructure like a product: designed, built, and continuously improved.

What you’ll work on
  • Build internal tools that automate how Phantom operates day-to-day

  • Use AI/LLMs to replace repetitive workflows across teams

  • Own identity and access systems (provisioning, permissions, lifecycle)

  • Improve device management and endpoint infrastructure (macOS fleet, configs, enforcement)

  • Integrate and extend our SaaS stack so systems actually talk to each other

  • Partner with security to make systems both safe and usable

  • Take full ownership of what you build — from design to long-term maintenance

What makes someone good at this
  • You’ve built systems people rely on

  • You’re comfortable stitching together APIs, tools, and infrastructure into something cohesive

  • You think in systems, not tickets

  • You’re pragmatic; you ship quickly, but you don’t leave messes behind

  • You can operate without clear instructions and figure things out as you go

  • You write things down so other people can understand and build on your work

Background we expect
  • 7+ years in IT engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles

  • Experience with some combination of:

    • Identity providers (Okta preferred)

    • MDM / endpoint management (Kandji, Fleet, etc.)

    • SaaS integrations and automation

    • AI/LLM tooling in real workflows

    • Security or compliance-adjacent systems

Bonus
  • You’ve built AI-powered internal tools or automations

  • You’ve worked in a security-conscious or compliance-heavy environment

  • You’ve been in fast-moving startups where you had to figure things out yourself

  • Interest in crypto / fintech / high-security systems

We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds to apply. We believe that our work is stronger with a variety of perspectives, and we’re eager to further diversify our company. If you have a background that you feel would make an impact at Phantom, please consider applying. We’re committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best work of your career.

By submitting your resume and application materials, you acknowledge and agree that Phantom may use automated tools, including AI systems, and may engage trusted third-party service providers to process your application and ensure an efficient hiring process. Phantom does not sell your information and your materials will be handled securely and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
