Position Overview

The Senior Art Director is responsible for developing designs and concepts across a wide range of media on multiple brands. This position reports to the Art Supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee design and concepts as a brand lead
  • Keep all work consistent and on brand guidelines and strategy
  • Clearly present and communicate internally
  • Helps establish and maintain the highest possible standards of reproduction for all digital, print, audio/visual and collateral materials produced by the agency
  • Monitors the quality of finished mechanical/digital art and conceptual materials produced by internal and freelance artists
  • Provides direction and guidance to graphic designers
  • Informs and advises creative leadership on the status of departmental affairs, including all design-related computer hardware/software needs (upgrades, equipment needs/problems, training, etc.)
  • Ensures the efficient visual execution of creative concepts according to a prime account responsibility list or by management’s assignment
  • Consults with creative leadership, as well as account service, traffic and other agency team members as necessary to achieve agency objectives
  • Help to identify and eliminate factors creating a crisis, and minimize recurrence
  • Meets established deadlines or provides reasonable notice of special circumstances requiring deadline extension
  • Maintains a current list of available freelance artists, web designers, art and photography stock houses, photographers and other contributory talent and vendors
  • Engage in personal development necessary to stay current in advertising
  • Researches to become more familiar with clients’ businesses

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a minimum of 2 years experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, preferably in pharmaceutical advertising
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory, management, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent design skills, including a highly developed overall design/concept aptitude as well as typography, color, photography, and art
  • Passionate about design and visual communication
  • Knowledge of print and digital production
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, handle stressful situations, and deadline pressures
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and redirect agency projects to meet competing and changing deadlines 
  • Strong proficiency with Figma and general AI tools
  • Excellent computer skills, especially as they apply to desktop design including advanced proficiency in the following Adobe applications: Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; as well as an understanding of Flash, HTML, and Aftereffects. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
