Engineer 3

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end migration of enterprise reporting from MicroStrategy to Microsoft Power BI Online Service, serving as the technical and functional owner of the transition.
  • Inventory, analyze, and prioritize existing MicroStrategy reports, dossiers, metrics, attributes, prompts, and filters for conversion.
  • Reverse-engineer MicroStrategy semantic models and business logic and translate them into Power BI datasets, data models, DAX measures, and Power Query transformations.
  • Design and develop enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, including shared datasets, star-schema data models, dataflows, and optimized reports and dashboards.
  • Ensure migrated Power BI reports match or improve the accuracy, performance, and business meaning of existing MicroStrategy reports.
  • Partner with stakeholders to validate KPIs, metrics, and reporting outputs during and after migration.
  • Establish Power BI standards and governance, including workspace architecture, security (RLS), dataset reuse, naming conventions, and performance best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize reporting during the migration rather than performing one-for-one rebuilds.
  • Work with data engineering and IT teams to optimize data pipelines, models, and refresh strategies supporting Power BI.
  • Train and support business users and analysts in Power BI usage and self-service reporting as MicroStrategy is phased out.
  • Provide leadership with migration status, risk assessments, and readiness to retire MicroStrategy.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for both MicroStrategy and Power BI during the transition period.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 8 years of experience (an additional 8 years of experience can substitute for the degree).
