This role reports to the Director of Decision Science and is part of the Data & Analytics organization within Business Technology (BT). BT drives Workiva’s growth, enhances the employee experience, and increases organizational productivity through tech-driven transformation and innovation. The Data & Analytics team plays a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making and innovation across Workiva.

As a Sr. BI Analyst, you will be instrumental in driving data-driven innovation and strategic decision-making across the organization. As a senior member of our Decision Science team, you will design and manage dashboards, conduct in-depth analyses, and collaborate with business stakeholders to uncover actionable insights. This role blends technical expertise, analytical thinking, and business acumen, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Workiva’s growth and success.

What You’ll Do

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to generate actionable insights.

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover underlying patterns, causes, and business implications beyond surface-level insights.

  • Proactively identify trends and key data points to present to leadership.

  • Build the next generation of self-service data products, delivering insights at scale.

Storytelling & Actionable Insights

  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives that drive decision-making.

  • Provide actionable recommendations that empower stakeholders across the organization.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Marketing to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.

  • Educate stakeholders on data capabilities, helping them make informed decisions with available insights.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security in all delivered data products.

  • Maintain clear documentation of data flows and logic.

Promote Curated Data & Self-Service Insights

  • Work with Data & Analytics Engineering, Data Product Managers, and stakeholders to develop standardized, curated datasets and metrics.

  • Help democratize insights across the company.

Foster a Data-Driven Culture

  • Actively contribute to a culture of data-driven decision-making within Workiva.

  • Stay up to date on BI best practices, tools, and emerging trends to continuously improve analytics capabilities.

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field in the technology sector.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced SQL skills with experience in large-scale data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

  • Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, Superset, or Python libraries (Seaborn, Matplotlib).

  • Knowledge of data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and ETL processes.

  • Experience with statistical methods (hypothesis testing, A/B testing, causal inference).

  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis and automation.

  • Experience with data governance and management tools (Atlan, Alation).

  • Effective problem-solving skills with a keen focus on accuracy.

  • Ability to interpret complex data and present clear, actionable insights.

  • Clear and adaptable communication skills to convey findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build alignment across teams.

  • Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing for impact, and delivering meaningful insights efficiently.

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests 

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, as we embrace flexible work arrangements

How You’ll Be Rewarded

 

✅ Salary range in the US: $111,000.00 - $178,000.00

✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package

 

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and other relevant factors.
