Job Description Summary:

Fenwick is seeking a Competitive Intelligence Senior Manager who will lead a team focused on delivering targeted market research, competitive intelligence, and business analysis to support the firm's strategic practice, marketing, and business development goals. They will partner with key stakeholders, including business development professionals and practice leaders, to understand their business goals and identify opportunities to leverage research and analysis to support those goals. As a leader in analytics and intelligence, the role will interface with stakeholders across many of the firm’s departments and practice groups, maintaining a collection of research and analysis resources, and identify opportunities to improve and expand the intelligence experience.
This position offers the flexibility to be remote or based in any of our U.S. office locations, with occasional travel required. For candidates based in our U.S. offices, we offer a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work both from home and at your designated Fenwick office. The frequency of in-office work will be determined by business needs and guided by your department's directives.

Job Description:

  • Prepare or oversee preparation and delivery of intelligence to support practice, recruiting and business development activities with an emphasis on translating internal data, research findings, and business and industry trends into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Establish standards and best practices for intelligence deliverables and proactively improve upon these
  • Develop deep knowledge of the firm's practices and clients, as well as the industries and markets we serve
  • Ensure business and legal developments relevant to the firm's business, practices, and clients are actively monitored and communicated to the relevant stakeholders
  • Evaluate internal and external intelligence resources and identify opportunities to improve and expand their use
  • Coach business professionals on the use of relevant intelligence resources
  • Develop the competitive intelligence team to meet the growing demand for sophisticated market and competitive intelligence, including managing project assignments and reviewing work product
Desired Skills and Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Expert knowledge of business reference and research tools, including corporate deal research platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships and aptitude for building consensus and facilitating change
  • Customer service orientation and exceptional organizational and process management skills
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and professionalism consistent with the firm's performance culture and growth mindset
  • Ability to remain cool in a demanding environment (a sense of humor helps, too)
  • Expert-level knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for analyzing and presenting information
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently and to coordinate and/or supervise the activities of others
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively to translate business goals into project requirements, set priorities, and deliver results

Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing Operations, the qualified candidate will have 10+ years of experience managing research and analysis activities to support business development or business operations. Managerial or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MLS, MBA, or JD) preferred.

The anticipated range for this position is:

$138,000 - $206,250

Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.  Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
