We're looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer who can independently design and deliver end-to-end data solutions. You'll work directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements and transform them into scalable data platforms, analytics solutions, and AI-enabled applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning initiatives from discovery through implementation while collaborating closely with the engineering team.

This role requires deep expertise in Snowflake and modern cloud data platforms, along with strong SQL, Python, and data modeling skills.

Working hours: South America (work schedule 8:00 AM-5:00 PM CST).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion through transformation and reporting.
  • Develop robust data warehouse solutions using modern data modeling techniques (Kimball, Data Vault, or normalized models).
  • Build and optimize Snowflake-native solutions using Dynamic Tables, Streams, Tasks, Stored Procedures, and Snowpark.
  • Design high-performance SQL queries and optimize warehouse performance, clustering, and search optimization.
  • Develop Python-based data processing and API ingestion workflows.

  • Design and optimize Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards for business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate directly with business users to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver business value.
  • Implement CI/CD practices, governance, RBAC, and data security within Snowflake environments.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled data solutions using modern AI platforms and machine learning workflows.
  • Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering best practices.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer building and delivering end-to-end data solutions.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, including building production-grade data pipelines using Dynamic Tables, Streams, Tasks, Stored Procedures, and Snowpark.
  • Expert-level SQL skills with extensive experience optimizing complex queries and designing high-performance data warehouses.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data models using dimensional modeling (Kimball), Data Vault, or normalized approaches.
  • Advanced Python programming skills for data processing, API integrations, workflow automation, and ETL/ELT development.
  • Experience building and maintaining cloud-based data platforms on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2).
  • Strong experience developing business intelligence solutions using Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and report performance optimization.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, version control, RBAC, and data governance practices for modern data platforms.
  • Experience building AI-enabled data solutions using technologies such as Snowflake Cortex, Azure AI Foundry, Azure Copilot Studio and Python-based machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and independently deliver projects from concept through implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
