Taking a science-based approach, Lovevery was named one of Fast Company's 10 most innovative companies of 2024 and has received awards from TIME, Red Dot, Good Housekeeping and Forbes.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer, Analytics to play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy and enabling data excellence across the business. This is a high-impact individual contributor role, with shared ownership and responsibility of analytics engineering and opportunity to increase skillset and ownership to all parts of the data stack.

This role is ideal for someone who constantly strives to deliver high quality code which solves complex problems, has passion about the role of data in organizations, and embraces AI-driven solutions to improve velocity and results. You’ll be joining a team with a strong desire to improve our transformation and visualization layers. From day one, you'll have the opportunity to lead efforts on the data platform and help set the direction for how our data platform empowers decision-makers.

About you

  • Strategic Individual Contributor: You’re a hands-on developer but you still possess a vision. You prefer ownership rather than oversight and are energized by building, optimizing, and scaling analytics capabilities.
  • Domain Fluent: You go deep into the business context—understanding key metrics, how they evolve, and how best to equip others with data that drives action.
  • Trusted Communicator: You thrive at the intersection of technical and non-technical. You are skilled in translating complex requirements into elegant data products.
  • Results-Driven: You consistently deliver clean, actionable data models and tools that enable informed decisions across the organization. Open threads, dead code, unused dashboards and messy schemas drive you to action.
  • AI-Forward Thinker: You actively seek ways to leverage generative AI and machine learning in data transformation, documentation, and user-facing tooling to drive better business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Results at Scale: Deliver high impact code to create pipelines, visualizations, dashboards, and solutions that enable us to develop faster and the business to make informed decisions confidently. Leverage your DBT expertise to make resounding changes to our data transformation layer with confidence.
  • Lead with Expertise: Operate as a senior technical expert in the data and analytics engineering space, leading architecture discussions and implementation of robust, scalable data models.
  • Prioritize for Performance: Balance feature delivery with a simple, performant design. You will work to ensure pipelines are cost effective and run at a high level of performance.
  • Build and Maintain Layered Data: Collaborate with other technical contributors to build out our modern data warehouse capable of unlocking insights through strategic architecture (that you’ll help define).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Empower Business Users: The results of your work begin with the business. Partner with power users to enable data fluency and help teams build and explore reporting tools that unlock value.
  • Champion AI & Automation: Drive adoption of AI-assisted coding, documentation, and data exploration techniques to streamline development and enhance self-serve capabilities for business users.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience implementing and scaling DBT in a team setting and growth environment.
  • 5+ years experience production data modeling utilizing key data warehousing techniques on cloud infrastructure such as Databricks Delta, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery or other cloud-based platform. You design intuitive, business-friendly data models that support self-service exploration and operational reporting while adhering to conventional concepts.
  • Very strong understanding of advanced concepts in SQL including under-the-hood performance implications.
  • Familiarity with Spark or similar distributed data processing technologies.
  • A track record of building data pipelines on CI/CD such as Github Actions or CircleCI with well-tested pipelines, proactive alerting, and strong data quality standards.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Natural Language Query tools) to enable you to move faster and deliver higher quality code.
  • Skilled in visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or similar—both in building dashboards and enabling business users to self-serve effectively.
  • Self service capabilities in git.
  • Experience in Python is a bonus.
  • Experience with Prefect, Dagster, Airflow or other DAG tools is a bonus.
  • Experience with subscriptions and/or Ecommerce is a bonus.

The Benefits/Perks You’ll Enjoy

  • Competitive salary, benefits and stock option package
  • 3 weeks PTO in year 1 +14 paid holidays
  • Generous parental leave
  • Any equipment you need to get the job done
  • Free/discounted Lovevery products
  • Remote working option available anywhere in the US
