NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to ensure that all work performed by the team complies with technical, security, and IT policy guidelines for databases within complex, enterprise-level systems in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads and performs cloud platform database administration for a large-scale, complex, high-performance enterprise Relational Data Service (RDS) 
  • Works closely with developers, ISSO, and engineers to develop, design, manage and maintain RDS, ensuring effective integration among information systems and that the IT infrastructure is continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry standards as well as emerging business and security requirements.  
  • Understands the interactions between databases, systems, applications, infrastructure, DevOps tools, technologies, and services within the environment, and evaluates the impact of changes or additions.  
  • Analyzes system and performs testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (equivalent additional years of related experience may be substituted for degree). 
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in the IT-DBA experience  
  • Three (3) or more years in architecture, design, management and maintenance of relational enterprise database services (RDS), such as Oracle or PostGreSQL, preferably in AWS.  
  • Has a strong understanding and work experience in DevOps tools and technologies such as GitHub, Jenkins CICD, Dockers, Secrets Management, Encryption at Rest, and Microservices for enterprise applications in cloud platforms, preferably in AWS.  
  • Has expertise in Cloud platform Database Administration for a large-scale, complex, high-performance enterprise RDS.  
  • Has experience working closely with developers, ISSO, and engineers to develop, design, manage, and maintain RDS, ensuring effective integration among information systems and the IT infrastructure is continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry standards as well as emerging business and security requirements.
