Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
About the Role
Atlassian is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate to champion our Forge platform, helping developers, customers, and partners build the future of extensibility within our products. You will sit at the intersection of engineering, product, and community - acting as both a passionate ambassador for Forge and a trusted conduit of developer and partner feedback into our platform roadmap.
Your mission: drive increased adoption and usage of Forge and Forge-based services by engaging with the community, influencing platform direction with real-world insights, and showcasing the impact of the platform through data and storytelling.
  • Advocate for Developers: Build trust with the developer community by producing high-quality technical content, talks, demos, and sample apps that showcase the value and power of Forge.
  • Influence Product Roadmap: Partner closely with product and engineering teams, bringing forward customer and partner feedback to help shape feature development and prioritization.
  • Engage with Customers & Partners: Work directly with strategic customers and partners to help them succeed on Forge, surface blockers, and co-create scalable solutions.
  • Drive Adoption: Design and execute campaigns, enablement programs, and workshops that boost awareness and usage of Forge in key developer segments.
  • Measure Impact: Be data-savvy - use metrics and experimentation to understand what moves the needle and report clearly on the success of initiatives across adoption, engagement, and satisfaction.
  • Community Leadership: Cultivate Forge champions in the ecosystem, participate in forums and events, and grow a healthy, vibrant developer community.

What We're Looking For
  • 8+ years in Developer Relations, Advocacy, or similar technical community role, ideally within a platform or extensibility (APIs and SDKs) ecosystem.
  • Strong technical background - you can build with Forge (or similar platforms), write clear and compelling code samples, and deeply understand developer pain points.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills - comfortable presenting at events, on camera, and in writing.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build cross-functional trust - especially with engineering, product, marketing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Data-driven mindset - can define success metrics, use dashboards, and work with analytics to guide decisions and prove impact.
  • Proven experience working directly with customers or partners to understand needs and unblock adoption.
  • Proven content creator (blogs, videos, live coding, etc.).
  • Comfortable with public speaking and community engagement.
  • A bias for action, empathy for developers, and curiosity about how things work.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
