About us

At Flashbots, we're building the foundations of the future Internet and financial system. As an R&D organization, we focus on MEV through our dual engines of open research and breakthrough product development – like mev-geth, Flashbots Protect, MEV-Boost, MEV-Share, Flashblocks, and BuilderNet.

Our vibe is accelerationist, exceptional, kind, and independent. We are explorers, innovators, builders, and thinkers. We thrive on action, curiosity, and impact - driving the future in an iterative way while keeping an eye towards the long term version we want to see in the world.

Flashbots is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer with a platform-first mindset to fortify the infrastructure powering our Block Builders.

You’ll work at the intersection of distributed systems, blockchain infrastructure, and trusted compute thus ensuring that our production environment remains scalable, resilient, and secure.

What You’ll Do
  • Platform Reliability & Operations

    • Contribute, support and or lead the deployment, operation, and reliability of the block builder platform from Kubernetes clusters to bare-metal environments.

    • Maintain and scale distributed infrastructure spanning L1 and L2 environments, ensuring consistent performance under high-throughput and latency-sensitive workloads.

    • Drive observability, incident response, and performance optimization through modern SRE and DevOps practices.

  • Infrastructure Development & Automation

    • Build automation and tooling to simplify operations, improve developer experience, and reduce toil across our systems.

    • Design CI/CD workflows for high-assurance environments, including TEE-based systems and blockchain node infrastructure.

    • Contribute to the design of reproducible, secure environments across multiple clouds and hosting providers.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with backend, research, and protocol teams to support rollup infrastructure, MEV systems, and next-generation execution environments.

    • Participate in the envisioning, proofing, and deployment of new L2 infrastructure components and TEE-integrated products.

  • Operational Excellence & Open Source

    • Lead root-cause investigations, reliability reviews, and postmortems for production systems.

    • Contribute to open-source tooling and documentation that powers the Ethereum ecosystem.

Who You Are
  • Seasoned DevOps/Infra Engineer

    • +4–10 years of experience operating complex production systems. Ideally spanning both traditional infrastructure and crypto-native environments.

  • Technical Generalist with Depth

    • Strong command of Linux, networking, and system internals. You understand how to scale, secure, and debug systems from the OS to the application layer.

  • Automation & Tooling Expert

    • Proficient with modern infrastructure tooling (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana) and comfortable designing CI/CD pipelines for secure distributed systems.

  • Programming Fluency

    • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) for operational workflows. Ideally skilled in Go or Rust for building automation and integration tooling.

  • Collaborative & Curious

    • You thrive in async, remote-first teams, communicate with clarity, and proactively improve shared systems. You’re deeply curious about MEV, Ethereum, and the frontier of decentralized compute.

Details that matter
  • Significantly above market rate equity compensation package

  • Unlimited PTO with a high level of freedom and autonomy for your work

  • Attractive health coverage package for US employees

  • $3000 Yearly budget for your individual learning and development goals

  • Work alongside the brightest minds in the crypto space

  • Help save the world by ensuring crypto remains decentralized, permissionless and censorship-resistant

  • Remote working, while we have a preference for EU/US time zones, you can work from anywhere in the world

  • Paid travel - 2 x team on-site in different parts of the world per year plus periodic travel to events

At Flashbots, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, age, or disability status.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
