Role Overview
Sr. Director, Data Science for various and unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. (HQ: Chicago, IL). Support and manage highly complex software development initiatives, including data engineering, data analysis, user support. Manage and drive integrated teams, driving technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Engage with business partners understand their needs and identify appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate execution of development projects from initiation through release.
- Prioritize, plan, and implement IT development schedule for major product releases.
- Maintain dependency plan between planned sprints; organize and facilitate daily stand-ups and retrospectives at the end of each sprint.
- Manage and track team velocity, financials, and other critical metrics in relation to the plan and published progress reports.
- Hands on reviews of product backlog, designs, code, test scripts and results in addressing delivery impediments or product quality issues.
- Ensure high quality and clearly documented deliverables across engineering teams.
- Adopt innovative technologies for software product needs. Lead and manage onshore and offshore development teams, mentor teams on changing technology stack.
- Assess and install software required for building big data platform. Build robust ETL pipeline that support day to day client delivery.
Technical Requirement:
Developing and tuning spark applications using Databricks; spark architecture, spark SQL, Pyspark; data frames and tuning big data spark applications; Python, Scala, SQL, UNIX shell scripting; SQL scripting; cloud platforms (Azure, AWS); Database Design and Data Modelling; strong diagramming skills (flowcharts, data flows); Synapse, Snowflake, Google BigQuery; Abinitio, Oracle; Software Life Cycle (Waterfall Model); Agile, Scrum, Kanban Models; PL-SQL Procedures, Python Scripting, Data modeling; Hadoop/Hbase applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering field.
- 5 years of progressive experience as a Technical Lead or Analyst or IT Director or in software development required
- Experience reviewing complex code completed by developers
- Managing, training and mentoring developers, monitoring productivity, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule
- Triaging & troubleshooting complex software data
- Hands on software experience developing, designing, requirement gathering, and tuning spark applications using Databricks, experience with spark architecture, spark SQL, Pyspark
- Data frames and tuning big data spark applications
- Expertise with Python, Scala, SQL, UNIX shell scripting, SQL scripting; hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS); Database Design and Data Modeling; strong diagramming skills (flowcharts, data flows); Synapse, Snowflake, Google BigQuery; Abinitio, Oracle; Software Life Cycle (Waterfall Model); Agile, Scrum, Kanban Models; PL-SQL Procedures, Python Scripting, Data modeling. The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $202,779 USD to $231,000 USD.
This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
