As Director, Commerce, you will lead a high‑performing team of commerce specialists to drive measurable growth for clients across the commerce ecosystem. You’ll oversee strategy and execution across commerce media and marketplace/retail dynamics, ensure consistently excellent delivery, and act as a senior partner

Key Responsibilities:

People Leader:

  • Lead and mentor a team of commerce specialists and people managers; build a culture of collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement, and strong accountability.

  • Set clear goals and performance expectations; coach and develop talent through regular feedback, skill building, and stretch opportunities.

  • Own quality control for the team’s work product and ensure leaders have the right standards, templates, and review rhythms to execute consistently.

Client-Centric:

  • Own and manage key client relationships as the senior Commerce leader; ensure strategies align to client business goals and commerce realities (retail dynamics, assortment, profitability, seasonality, platform constraints).

  • Lead strategic client touchpoints and presentations, tailoring narratives for senior audiences and turning insight into clear decisions and next steps.

  • Anticipate risks (performance, platform policy shifts, retail factors, operational gaps) and guide teams to resolve issues early and transparently.

Product-Led:

  • Champion Tinuiti’s product and technology suite within commerce delivery, ensuring teams use tools to improve scalability, efficiency, and quality of insights.

  • Partner cross‑functionally (Product, Analytics, I&G, Creative, other channels) to embed better workflows and reduce manual work and rework.

  • Stay current on commerce platform capabilities and changes; translate platform shifts into practical updates to playbooks, client recommendations, and team training.

Data & Measurement Data-Driven:

  • Oversee the analysis of complex commerce performance data; ensure recommendations are evidence‑based, measurable, and tied to client KPIs.

  • Set expectations for testing rigor and learning loops (clear hypotheses, clean setups, defined read timing, documented learnings).

  • Ensure teams monitor performance consistently and can clearly explain what’s happening, why it matters, and what should change next.

Channel Specific Expertise & The Tinuiti Way:

  • Oversee development and execution of comprehensive commerce strategies, leveraging deep expertise in commerce platforms and marketplace dynamics.

  • Uphold and evolve Tinuiti Way commerce standards (planning, activation excellence, QA, measurement practices, client communication quality) in partnership with commerce leads and Growth & Innovation teams to ensure work is consistent across accounts and teams.

  • Promote cross‑channel alignment so commerce strategies connect to full‑funnel plans and the broader media mix.

Professional & Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years in commerce / e‑commerce / retail media / marketplace roles, with a proven record driving growth strategies and measurable client outcomes.

  • Leadership: 5+ years leading teams (ICs and/or managers), including coaching, performance management, quality review, and talent development.

  • Commerce platform expertise: Strong familiarity with commerce media and marketplace ecosystems (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Criteo and similar), including how platform changes impact strategy and execution.

  • Measurement & analytics: Comfortable guiding teams in data interpretation, testing fundamentals, and measurement‑informed decision making; can translate performance and trade‑offs into clear client narratives.

  • Cross‑functional influence: Proven ability to partner with Client Partners, Creative, Analytics, and other channels to deliver cohesive commerce strategies.

  • Communication: Strong executive‑ready storytelling and client presence; able to drive alignment, decisions, and accountability.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
