At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most.

About the Product team

The Product team listens to our customers’ needs and translates those insights into a clear product vision. The team works closely with design, engineering, and analytics to build scalable financial products that empower people to manage their money with confidence. We rely on empathy, curiosity, and business sense to prioritize features and improve experiences. Our role is to lead with clarity, support cross-functional execution, and champion the user in every decision.

About the role

Affirm is building the next generation of consumer finance, and the Affirm Card sits at the center of that vision—blending debit, pay-over-time, and network-native experiences into a single product.

We’re looking for a Senior Director of Product to lead the Affirm Card and Card Platform—owning both the end-user experience, the business outcomes of every card product, and the underlying platform that powers card issuance, authorization, servicing, and partner integrations.

This is a pillar-level leadership role responsible for defining strategy, building a high-performing team, and delivering durable business outcomes across one of Affirm’s most strategic product areas.

What you’ll do

Own the Card domain end-to-end

  • Define and drive the multi-year vision for Affirm Card across consumer experience, growth, and economics, inclusive of new card products that complement the one we have in market today.

  • Lead the US direct to consumer card products (Affirm Cards, and in app virtual cards)

  • Oversee our Card Platform (authorization, ledgering, servicing, controls) which powers the D2C products both domestically and internationally, along with a number of merchant and partner integrations.

  • Translate company strategy into a coherent roadmap spanning multiple teams and systems

Build and scale a high-performing product organization

  • Manage and develop a team of PMs and PM leaders

  • Establish product standards, operating cadence, and decision frameworks

  • Build a durable org that delivers high-quality outcomes without direct involvement in every decision

Drive business outcomes at scale

  • Own GMV, engagement, unit economics, and credit outcomes for the Card domain

  • Shape investment strategy, tradeoffs, and resource allocation across multiple product areas

  • Partner with Finance and Credit to optimize profitability and risk

Lead platform strategy and execution

  • Drive platform capabilities that unlock velocity across Affirm (APIs, controls, servicing systems)

  • Partner deeply with Engineering to make cost vs. value tradeoffs at the system level

  • Ensure the Card Platform scales reliably across use cases, geographies, and partners

Operate as a cross-functional leader

  • Align senior stakeholders across Engineering, Design, Credit, Legal, Partnerships, and GTM

  • Build strong relationships with external partners (networks, processors, wallet providers)

  • Represent the Card domain in executive forums and company planning cycles

What we look for

Product leadership at scale

  • 15+ years in product management, with experience leading multi-team product areas or platforms

  • Track record of owning large domains or business lines with meaningful financial impact

Org-building capability

  • Experience managing managers and building high-performing PM teams

  • Proven ability to create systems, processes, and culture that scale

Strategic and systems thinker

  • Ability to operate at portfolio-level altitude—connecting product decisions to company strategy

  • Strong judgment across second- and third-order tradeoffs, especially in complex systems

Platform + fintech depth

  • Experience in payments, cards, fintech, or adjacent infrastructure

  • Comfort working on both consumer-facing products and backend platforms

Execution and influence

  • Ability to drive alignment across senior stakeholders and functions

  • Strong product instincts paired with rigorous, data-driven decision-making

Why this role matters

Affirm Card is one of the fastest-growing parts of the business and a key driver of long-term differentiation. This role will shape:

  • How Affirm shows up every day in consumers’ wallets

  • How we blend debit, credit, and pay-over-time into one experience

  • The platform foundation that enables future financial products

  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
