Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions people make, and millions turn to Redfin and Rocket each year to search for homes, understand affordability, and compare mortgage options. Search is where that journey begins — and it’s evolving fast. Generative AI and conversational search are transforming how people discover information, and the old SEO playbook no longer cuts it. Winning now means combining technical excellence, structured data, content strategy, product architecture, and AI visibility.

With leading platforms across home search, brokerage, and mortgage, Redfin and Rocket are built to lead this shift.

We’re hiring a Senior Director, SEO & AI Search to define the future of organic discovery for two of the most recognized brands in real estate, Redfin and Rocket, serving a combined audience of more than 60 million users.

Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll shape the next era of search — setting the vision, driving the roadmap, and partnering across engineering, product, marketing, and executive leadership. This is a highly strategic, high‑visibility role with direct influence on company‑wide priorities and the customer experience at massive scale.

About the Role

  • Lead the Company’s Search Engine Strategy: You’ll own the vision for how millions discover Redfin and Rocket. Setting the long‑term SEO and AI Search strategy, building a unified roadmap, defining the KPIs that matter, and keeping us ahead of every major shift in search.

  • Own Technical SEO & Platform Architecture: Drive technical SEO for massive, dynamic marketplace platforms. Partner with Engineering and Product to hard‑wire search best practices into our architecture.

  • Accelerate AI Search & Answer Engine Visibility: Define how Redfin and Rocket show up in AI‑powered search. Build frameworks for structured data, entity signals, authoritative content, and intent modeling. Turn emerging discovery behaviors into product and content opportunities — and position Redfin as a leader in AI‑driven search.

  • Influence at the Highest Levels: Partner with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Analytics. Using data, insights, and clear storytelling to drive decisions that impact millions and champion a search‑first culture across the company.

  • Build and Lead a High‑Performing Team: Lead a team across technical SEO, content optimization, and search analytics. Recruit, mentor, and grow exceptional talent while establishing scalable processes and reporting frameworks for enterprise impact.

About You

  • Proven SEO Leader: You bring 10+ years leading SEO and organic growth, for large, complex, consumer-facing platforms. You have a track record of driving enterprise‑level results and you see where search is heading and build for what’s next.

  • SEO & AI Search Expert: You bring deep experience with large, dynamic websites and complex technical architectures. You’re fluent in modern SEO and analytics tools, comfortable navigating constant algorithm and platform shifts, and familiar with AI‑driven search and emerging answer engines. You blend technical SEO mastery with a clear perspective on how LLMs, generative AI, and conversational interfaces are reshaping discovery. You can operate at executive altitude while diving into technical details when it matters.

  • Data-Obsessed and Impact Driven: You use data to shape strategy, influence decisions, and measure what matters. You know how to turn insights into action.

  • A Builder of High-Performing Teams: You’ve built diverse, high‑impact teams and fostered cultures of inclusivity, collaboration, and excellence. You’re a leader of leaders who knows how to coach, empower, and scale talent.

  • A Trusted Cross-Functional Partner: You build strong, productive relationships across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Analytics, and know how to partner deeply with technical teams to deliver big outcomes.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
