About this opportunity:

Freenome is seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader to join our team as the Senior Director of Strategic Program Optimization. This Commercial Leadership role is a critical, commercial-facing leadership position responsible for leading a specialized team that engages with clients late in the sales funnel, just before contract execution.

The successful candidate will lead a team of Program Architects who partner with Sales Account Executives (SAEs) to ensure client success. This team consults clients on building the most effective program by optimizing everything from clinical workflows and testing adherence to patient management. The Director will excel at translating complex, chaotic signals into clear, actionable, and repeatable high-risk identification and screening protocols. The ultimate goal is to drive significant value for both the client and Freenome. This role is a strategic execution role that will partner closely with commercial and clinical leadership to achieve optimal outcomes for our partners.

The position is full-time. Due to the client-facing and strategic nature of this role, domestic travel is a required component of the job, up to 50% of time. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet critical project or client deadlines. This role reports directly to the VP of Sales.

What you’ll do:

This role acts as the chief implementation architect and senior consultant for Freenome's most strategic client programs.

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the Program Optimization team, setting strategic direction and performance goals to maximize clinical adoption and commercial value.
  • Implementation Architecture: Design and implement repeatable, high-value program architectures (protocols, workflows, and best practices) for client onboarding and long-term success.
  • Client Consulting: Serve as the senior consulting expert for key clients, translating their clinical, technical and operational needs into concrete, optimized program implementations, and presenting performance dashboards to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Workflow Optimization: Deeply analyze client clinical workflows to identify and implement changes that maximize testing adherence and patient management efficiency, turning ideas into embedded, sustainable program components.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Sales, Clinical, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure the smooth transition of clients from contract negotiation to execution and full operational scale.
  • Value Realization: Develop and track key metrics and performance analytics to measure the efficacy of implemented protocols, ensuring maximum clinical and financial value for clients and Freenome.

Must haves:

The Senior Director of Strategic Program Optimization will possess a combination of strong leadership, deep industry knowledge, and exceptional strategic execution skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in healthcare implementation, strategic consulting, or clinical program management.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing complex healthcare implementation programs.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing role with a proven track record of supporting sales cycles and managing external stakeholder expectations.
  • Deep expertise in clinical workflow optimization, change management, and team leadership.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for non-technical leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-phase strategic projects, managing timelines across internal teams and external customer partners to meet commercial milestones.

Nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with Lean fundamentals or Six Sigma to optimize program playbooks.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing clinical data and patient privacy.
  • Proficiency in developing performance dashboards and business reviews for executive-level stakeholders.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
