At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The EHS team carries a profound responsibility to keep people and the environments where we operate safe while we build the future. We're not here to slow things down; we're here to enable safe speed. At this stage in Relativity’s trajectory, you'll have the rare opportunity to shape how EHS is embedded in every process and decision, from the factory floor to the launch pad. We have a voice at every level, and we use it to build a culture where EHS isn’t just about compliance, but rather a shared responsibility amongst all employees.

About the Role:

  • Serve as the primary EHS specialist embedded with engineering, operations and EHS teams on pressure safety, including hydraulics, water, inert gases and inert cryogenics.
  • Conduct safety reviews of high-pressure hardware and process designs and provide safety requirements and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess, and analyze potential pressure safety hazard, risks and controls for pressure system assets and processes.
  • Actively participate in design and test readiness review meetings with engineering and operations stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement risk reduction strategies to minimize incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manage consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders including engineering teams, operational teams, EHS teams and vendors to achieve and implement pressure safety goals.
  • Monitor and implement compliance with applicable high pressure safety regulations, industry standards, and internal company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, incident investigations and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Balance time between program development and on-site support of live processes and issues.
  • Developing and delivering safety training specifically to high pressure systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safe project execution.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience, including pressure systems or high-energy mechanical systems testing, including hydraulics, water, inert gases and inert cryogenics.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ASME, and related safety standards.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analysis, and incident investigations in complex technical environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on, proactive problem solver who thrives in the field and collaborates effectively across teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Relevant certifications preferred: CSP, CHST, or OSHA 30/General Industry
  • Knowledge of aerospace high pressure testing protocols and mechanical safety hazards.
  • Ability to develop and deliver specialized safety training for technical teams.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
