We are seeking a Senior Electromechanical Engineer to own the systems that live at the boundary between electrical and mechanical engineering. This is a foundational role. You will take ambiguous, high-risk electromechanical assemblies such as power generation modules, subsea connectors, pressure-balanced enclosures, high-current paths, and thermal interfaces, and drive them from first principles to offshore deployment. You will eliminate the gray zones between disciplines by personally architecting, mechanically designing, releasing, building, testing, breaking, and hardening hardware that must survive saltwater, pressure, vibration, and time. You will move at blistering pace, close loops aggressively, and take full accountability for system reliability in the field. If something fails on the seafloor, you will feel responsible and you will fix it permanently.

The Role

As a Senior Electromechanical Engineer, you will design, integrate, and harden the critical electromechanical systems that enable our seafloor power plants to operate reliably at depth. You will be responsible for full system architecture across electrical and mechanical boundaries including power generation modules, grounding and current paths, subsea connectors and penetrators, sealing strategies, pressure compensation, thermal interfaces, and long-term environmental integrity.

You will blend rigorous theoretical understanding of electrical and mechanical fundamentals with deep hands-on experience shipping hardware in harsh environments. This is not a desk-only role. We are looking for someone who has personally built assemblies, debugged failures in the lab or in the field, chased down leakage currents and soft shorts, and understands the difference between a clean schematic and a system soaked in saltwater.

You will work cross-functionally with drilling, subsea systems, power cycle, and operations teams to ensure our machines generate and deliver power reliably without hidden failure modes at discipline boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

· Architect and design mission-critical electromechanical systems from concept through offshore deployment

· Define integrated electrical and mechanical system architecture including current paths, grounding topology, sealing strategy, pressure compensation, and thermal management

· Design and validate power generation and distribution assemblies including bus structures, connectors, penetrators, harnessing, and power conditioning interfaces

· Mechanically design and release critical components and assemblies including enclosures, connector retention systems, structural current paths, thermal interfaces, and pressure-tolerant hardware

· Eliminate ambiguity at electrical and mechanical boundaries by clearly defining ownership, interface requirements, and failure containment strategies

· Lead design reviews for high-current paths, insulation systems, and environmental protection schemes

· Serve as technical owner for subsea electromechanical assemblies, working directly with vendors to define requirements, review designs, and drive reliability improvements

· Contribute to enclosure, connector, and pressure-tolerant system architecture to ensure long-term survivability in saltwater and high-pressure environments

· Build and execute rigorous validation plans including pressure testing, insulation resistance testing, hipot testing, thermal cycling, and accelerated life testing

· Lead root cause investigations for field failures including leakage currents, soft shorts, connector breakdown, corrosion, and thermal degradation

· Work alongside offshore operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues under real deployment constraints

· Develop risk registers and mitigation strategies for electromechanical reliability and lifecycle integrity

· Integrate electromechanical systems cleanly with drilling, subsea structures, power cycle, and control systems

· Establish engineering standards, documentation discipline, and design review rigor appropriate for subsea power infrastructure

· Mentor future electromechanical engineers and help build the function as we scale

Qualifications

· 6+ years of experience designing and shipping complex electromechanical systems, ideally in harsh or high-reliability environments

· Demonstrated experience owning complete assemblies from architecture through validation and field deployment

· Deep understanding of electrical fundamentals including power distribution, grounding and shielding, insulation systems, fault modes, and high-current design

· Strong mechanical engineering capability including 3D CAD design, tolerance stack analysis, sealing strategies, pressure-tolerant designs, structural load paths, thermal interfaces, and corrosion mitigation

· Proven hands-on experience debugging hardware failures in the lab or field. You have personally chased down shorts, leakage paths, connector failures, or environmental breakdowns and implemented permanent fixes

· Experience designing for harsh environments such as subsea, aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, or high-vibration industrial systems strongly preferred

· Strong knowledge of relevant standards and qualification methods and the judgment to apply them intelligently rather than mechanically

· Ability to think from first principles and challenge legacy assumptions where appropriate

· High ownership mentality and comfort being the single-threaded owner of a critical system

· Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills and ability to collaborate across electrical, mechanical, controls, and offshore operations teams

· Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to operate in ambiguity while building a new class of energy infrastructure
