The Copilots Engineering team is responsible for developing and maintaining Machine Learning and AI solutions leveraging our Gradient Platform. This team is responsible for innovating in this new area to bring new AI based solutions to cloud infrastructure operations. Continuing with our mission of DO simplicity our customers look to DO for innovation to improve infrastructure engineering, workload performance, and system reliability while lowering costs. Thus, building automations through DO’s Gradient Platform is imperative to keep our customers focused on developing their business.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Engineering Manager  in US locations: Austin, Boston, Denver, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle. You will play a critical role to ensure product experiences at all stages of the developers' journeys enable a DO-simple method to scale their business. You will join a team providing smooth operation of the AI solutions, providing technical support, managing operations, and driving efficiency through automation. What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Lead a team of software engineers developing gRPC APIs, building AI agents, creating a platform for other DigitalOcean engineers to build agents, and operating production services.
  • Develop efficient team methods to adroitly delivery value to our customers.
  • Collaborate across the organization and consistently interface with UI, UX, customer success, marketing, and engineering teams.
  • Develop Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and utilize these Key Results to measure and report on the success of the team.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define roadmaps to build the next generation of products for DigitalOcean’s customers.
  • Review and give input on architectural system designs.
  • Pair with leads on delivery of features, and resolutions of defects.
  • Career coaching including performance assessment, and career development.
  • Collaborate directly with customers to learn more about their jobs to be done and how DigitalOcean can better serve them.
  • Escalation path for the product on-call rotation, and drive improvements post incidents. 
  • Technologies we use: Kubernetes, Go, gRPC, Kafka, SQL, Grafana, Prometheus, and DigitalOcean Gradient™ AI Platform
 What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:
  • Experience building software used by 1000s of users.
  • Integrate regular customer feedback into software development practices, and leverage customer feedback to drive features with a focus on always delivering value to DigitalOcean customers.
  • Awareness and authentic interest in learning in areas such as Golang gRPC principles, infrastructure operations, large language models, and agentic solutions.
  • Regularly give feedback to team members on wins, and areas to improve.
  • Lead a team where individuals enjoy coming to work, know what needs to be done, and have the resources to get their job done.
  • Efficiently manage the team to deliver value for users and the business.
  • Identify issues impeding software development (across all phases of a service lifecycle from conception to maintenance) and collaborate with the team to resolve and improve.

Compensation Range: 
  • $164,000 - $205,000

You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
