Leads the Partner Data Ingestion engineering team, owning revenue-critical pipelines, data accuracy, legacy platform migration, partner integrations, and reliable operations. Manages and develops engineers and contractors, partners with Finance, Business Development, Product, and engineering teams, and guides technical decisions involving data modeling, pricing logic, orchestration, testing, and observability. The role also drives AI-assisted development and ensures ingestion systems remain accurate, reconcilable, maintainable, and operationally reliable.

At NerdWallet, we’re on a mission to bring clarity to all of life’s financial decisions and every great mission needs a team of exceptional Nerds. We’ve built an inclusive, flexible, and candid culture where you’re empowered to grow, take smart risks, and be unapologetically yourself (cape optional). Whether remote or in-office, we support how you thrive best. We invest in your well-being, development, and ability to make an impact because when one Nerd levels up, we all do.

NerdWallet's Partner Data Ingestion team builds and operates the systems that turn partner-reported activity into recognized revenue. The team owns ingestion pipelines, pricing configuration, and the data-quality controls behind affiliate revenue across all of our verticals, including banking, credit cards, insurance, lending, investing, and newer verticals. That data lands in Snowflake and is what Finance, Business Development, and the business use to understand performance and close the books.

As AI continues to reshape how software is built and operated, we're evolving how our engineering teams work. Partner Data Ingestion is investing in AI-assisted development, including agent-driven migration work and operational tooling, to raise delivery speed while holding a strict accuracy bar on revenue data.

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Partner Data Ingestion to lead this team through the rest of a multi-vertical platform migration and into steady-state operation. That includes moving ingestion off batch-job schedules and onto event-based and hourly processing. This role is for a leader who is energized by revenue-critical systems, comfortable holding a high accuracy bar, and serious about using AI to make a focused team faster.

You'll own the path off legacy ingestion and onto one platform, while keeping revenue flowing and reconciling for partners already live. You'll partner with Business Development, Finance, Product, and vertical engineering teams to sequence migrations, resolve discrepancies, and make tradeoffs between speed and correctness. You'll build a team that can explain a revenue number, not only ship a pipeline.

Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, people leadership, and the ability to balance migration pace with reliability, data accuracy, and long-term maintainability. You'll mentor engineers across levels, including staff engineers and contractors, and help foster a culture grounded in ownership, clear writing, and informed risk-taking.

This role reports to the VP of Engineering.

Where you can make an impact:
  • Hire, lead, and develop engineers at multiple levels, including full-time staff and contractors

  • Own revenue accuracy so partner files, pricing rules, and warehouse figures agree with what Finance recognizes

  • Drive the remaining migration of verticals and partners off legacy ingestion onto the modern platform, including new connectors to partner API portals, and retire the old path once the new one is proven

  • Partner with Business Development, Finance, Product, and vertical engineering leaders to sequence work, explain discrepancies, and hold delivery commitments

  • Manage sprint planning, project timelines, and delivery commitments, ensuring predictable and high-quality execution

  • Drive thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development where it shortens migrations and operations, with human review on anything that changes revenue

  • Guide technical decisions on pipeline design, data modeling, and pricing logic so systems stay correct as partner contracts change

  • Hold the team to software fundamentals: code review, testing, documentation, and operability of jobs that run every day

  • See delivery risk early — a late partner file, a pricing change, a dependency on another team — and escalate before it becomes a revenue miss

  • Keep ingestion reliable: freshness, completeness, and a clear owner when a number looks wrong

Your experience:
  • 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience

  • 5+ years as the people manager of an engineering team

  • Proven success owning production data pipelines or an ingestion platform where correctness is the product, such as revenue, billing, or payments, ideally in FinTech or another regulated industry

  • Experience leading a migration from a legacy system to a new platform while both are still in production

  • Strong SQL and Python, and working knowledge of Snowflake and AWS

  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Airflow, Step Functions, or similar), a relational database such as Postgres, and pipelines that are idempotent, observable, and safe to rerun

  • Working knowledge of data-quality practice: reconciliation, anomaly review, and how to investigate a number that does not match its source

  • Experience partnering with finance, business development, or other non-engineering stakeholders on data they use to make money decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to coach engineers at different levels, including senior and staff engineers, with clear, actionable feedback

  • Experience balancing delivery dates with technical quality on systems that cannot silently drop or double-count data

  • A track record of using automation, including AI-assisted development, to raise a team's throughput

  • Strong written communication when explaining discrepancies and decisions to people outside engineering

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
