If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

DigitalOcean is looking for a Facilities Manager to own the day-to-day operations, upkeep, and workplace experience of our global offices.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role: you'll be the go-to person making sure our spaces are safe, well-maintained, and set up for people to do their best work, while managing the vendors and budgets that keep everything running smoothly.  Strategically, you will be very involved in the selection of future office sites, expansion of existing offices and facilitation of DO’s approach to hybrid work.

You will be a key part of the People team under the Chief Legal & Administrative Office and work closely with People, IT, Security, and Finance teams on the ground in each of our office locations.

What You'll Do

Facilities & Workplace Operations

  • Manage day-to-day operations across DigitalOcean's offices: maintenance, repairs, cleaning, security access, mail/shipping, food & beverage, and general upkeep.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for building management, landlords, and facilities vendors at each site.
  • Coordinate and schedule vendor visits, service contracts, and preventive maintenance to keep facilities running with minimal disruption.
  • Manage the facilities budget for assigned offices — tracking spend, processing invoices, and flagging variances.
  • Support space planning and small-scale moves/adds/changes (desk assignments, furniture, minor build-outs) in partnership with the workplace/real estate lead.

Workplace Experience

  • Help create a welcoming, well-run office environment that supports in-person collaboration and local team events (e.g., local meetups).
  • Partner with People and IT on onboarding logistics, seating, and general office readiness for new hires.
  • Gather employee feedback on workplace needs and relay it to leadership to inform planning.

Vendor & Contract Coordination

  • Manage relationships and SLAs with local vendors (cleaning, security, catering, repairs, waste, etc.); help evaluate options and renew or replace vendors as needed.
  • Track vendor performance and resolve day-to-day service issues.
  • Assist with gathering quotes and coordinating logistics for lease renewals, though final negotiation typically sits with senior real estate leadership.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with local health, safety, and building code requirements at each site.
  • Support emergency preparedness efforts — fire drills, evacuation plans, and incident response procedures — in partnership with Security.
  • Keep accurate records of inspections, certifications, and maintenance logs.
What We're Looking For
  • 3-10 years of experience in facilities management, office/workplace management, or building operations, ideally at a tech company or fast-paced office environment.
  • Organized and responsive — you're the person people go to when something in the office needs fixing, and you follow through.
  • Solid vendor management and negotiation skills — you know how to get good service and fair pricing from contractors and service providers.
  • Comfortable with budgets: tracking spend, processing invoices, and staying within a plan.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, health/safety requirements, and basic maintenance practices.
  • Good communication skills; comfortable coordinating across People, IT, Security, and outside vendors.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other DigitalOcean offices as needed.

Compensation Range:
  • $105,000 - $126,000

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
