Job Description

The Washington Post’s FP&A department is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst with expertise in financial modeling, planning, and analysis. The position will focus on supporting the print operation and assisting leaders on building out the future of the print product. The analyst will work with cross-functional stakeholders to create new reporting views and help shine light on drivers of results.

The desired candidate will be self-sufficient and self-directed in managing their core FP&A responsibilities, connect details to the big picture, and communicate timely business insights to inform management decision-making. This will be a highly visible role that supports the heart of The Post’s mission; its journalism and by helping ensure the financial sustainability of the Print Product.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating plan, quarterly forecast, and long-range plan for the Print division and its cross-function partners.

  • Consolidate and present the Print P&L monthly with cross-functional print stakeholders. Be able to highlight drivers and present in a concise and easy to understand manner.

  • Analyze and articulate the connection between editorial coverage, reader engagement, and key revenue streams with the TWP print product. Develop clear, concise PowerPoint presentations that effectively communicate these insights to senior leadership.

  • Participate in Monthly Close by partnering with accounting to accurately record print financials.

  • Provide regular ad hoc financial analysis to finance leaders, print partners, and cross-functional teams to support strategic planning and operational decisions

  • Proactively identify and highlight opportunities for financial process and reporting improvements by partnering with other members of the finance team

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of financial planning, modeling, and analysis experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field

  • Experience supporting a recurring revenue business model, ideally in a subscription-based or media environment

  • High proficiency in utilizing MS Excel.

  • Comfortable with large volumes of complex data and presenting findings to senior management

  • Proven presentation and project management skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • The ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of management

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:

85,100.00 - 127,700.00 USD Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
