We'd love to hear from you 😊 👩‍💻👩🏽‍💻🧑🏿‍💻👨🏻‍💻

📝 Overview

Build What Matters

The Full Stack Engineer is an ownership role responsible for product outcomes end-to-end: from shaping technical approaches and building features through to release, reliability, and production performance.

At Sitemate, engineers combine strong technical craft with product thinking and delivery ownership. You'll work in small, high-trust teams alongside Product Design Managers to define problems, shape solutions, implement clean and scalable systems, and take responsibility for what ships — including how it behaves once live.

Engineering, product, and delivery are not separate handoffs here; they operate as one integrated team. We believe the future of product development in an AI-accelerated world belongs to engineers who can think beyond tickets - they own outcomes and deliver at speed with AI.

Employment:
  • Full-time

  • Based: Sydney, Australia or Melbourne, Australia

  • Remuneration (Including Super): AUD $160,000 - $200,000 pending your experience

About Sitemate

Sitemate is the front line AI company for the built world. We build software and AI agents for construction, engineering, manufacturing, and energy companies, helping field teams capture work as it happens and the business turn that activity into structured, auditable records. The Sitemate platforms include Dashpivot, Gearbelt, the Sitemate App, and Flowsite, and Sitemate’s AI agent is called Storm.

Storm is our AI agent layer, working underneath Dashpivot, Gearbelt, the Sitemate App, and Flowsite to turn what happens on-site into structured, auditable records.

We’ve achieved strong product-market fit - generating thousands of new monthly leads through word-of-mouth and organic marketing alone.

Backed by Blackbird, Australia and New Zealand’s #1 venture capital firm, and a graduate of the Startmate Accelerator, Sitemate has grown from 5 people in 2018 to over 150 across 18+ countries. 🔧 What this role looks like at the senior level

You'll lead technical decisions within a team attached to a product. You'll help shape architecture, mentor engineers, and have direct input into how our products evolve to support our users.

You'll work across frontend, backend, and mobile: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, and AWS. You don't need to be an expert in all of these, but you're skilled enough across part of the stack to lead with confidence.

Two shifts are defining what senior engineering looks like here:

  • You'll operate as a product-minded engineer. This goes beyond having opinions about UX. You'll join customer calls, interpret usage data, and make strategic decisions about what to ship and what to defer. The best engineers here understand the customer problem as deeply as they understand the code.

  • You'll lead the shift to agentic engineering. We're moving toward a model where senior engineers define and orchestrate AI agents to build features, rather than writing every line. You'll help establish how this works in practice — the patterns, the guardrails, and the quality bar — and help move other engineers towards this workflow.

🔧 Day-to-Day
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and long-term technical vision across the platform.

  • Build and ship impactful features, from architecting new capabilities to improving performance and code quality.

  • Shape experiences around AI-powered developer tools and agentic engineering practices.

  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and informal guidance.

  • Contribute improvements to developer experience (tooling, CI/CD, monitoring).

  • Collaborate directly with product, design, and leadership on what to build and why.

⚡ Challenges
  • High technical complexity beneath simple UIs — shared components across multiple products, backend services powering web and mobile clients.

  • Pace: Fast-Tracked is a real operating value. You'll need to balance speed with quality and sustainable delivery.

  • Organisational maturity: engineering leadership, frameworks, and career ladders are being established. You'll be building the plane while flying it.

✅ Who This Role is For
  • You've built and shipped at scale and want to own technical direction, not just execute.

  • You're excited about agentic engineering and want to lead a team through that transition.

  • You care about mentoring — helping others grow is as important to you as your own contributions.

  • You're drawn to real-world impact — our users build wind farms, highways, and mines in 100+ countries.

  • You want to shape how an engineering org works through our next phase of growth, not inherit someone else's playbook.

🚫 Who This Role is Not For
  • You want a mature engineering org with a VP of Engineering, established technical ladders, and 50-person platform teams already in place. We're building that — which is the opportunity if you want to shape it, and a mismatch if you need it to already exist.

  • You want to specialise in just design or just product management — senior engineers here own the full delivery cycle and operate as product-minded technologists.

  • You see AI tooling as a nice-to-have. Agentic engineering is our direction and senior engineers are expected to lead the shift.

🎯 Skills & Tools

Must Have:

  • Proven experience building and shipping production software at scale

  • Ability to lead architecture decisions and technical direction

  • Experience mentoring and uplifting other engineers

  • Strong product mindset — thinks about customer outcomes, not just implementation

  • Strong enthusiasm for agentic engineering and AI-first workflows

Nice to Have:

  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Node.js, Angular, MongoDB, or AWS

  • Mobile development experience

  • Experience in a scale-up or high-growth product environment

Essential Tools:

  • TypeScript / JavaScript

  • React or Angular

  • Node.js

Bonus Tools:

  • MongoDB

  • AWS

  • React Native / mobile

PLEASE Note:

  • We hire directly and don’t work with agencies
