The Role
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to scope and estimate work.

  • Write high quality tests at various levels (unit, integration, e2e, etc…).

  • Resolve complex production issues by leveraging your experience with observability tooling.

  • Write technical design documents for efforts which have multiple possible solutions, highlighting tradeoffs and possible implementation approaches, and providing a recommendation.

  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and contribute to roadmap planning.

  • Deliver high-quality, complex projects, setting engineering excellence standards.

  • Act as the change you want to see by proposing new practices, technologies, and behaviors.

  • Mentor team members and provide thoughtful code reviews.

  • Champion best practices and give thoughtful and prompt feedback to others.

  • Get to know team stakeholders and build a trusting relationship with them.

What it Takes to be Successful

Bringing a self-directed can-do attitude to this role will be critical. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer II, you will play a vital role in raising the bar of technical excellence at Zippy. We have a solid engineering foundation laid for our size and are looking for someone who can take it to the next level by applying their extensive experience, collaborative spirit, and willingness to mentor, guide, and teach, to their work. We value smart and kind individuals at Zippy who are looking to work with a great team to build great software and support an innovative business trying to make waves in the manufactured housing financing space. Here’s hoping that it’s you!

Must Haves
  • 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.

  • 4+ years of experience in Ruby.

  • 4+ years of experience in front-end development.

  • Excellent technical writing skills.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Git, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Docker, Github Actions, and Terraform.

  • Production experience with one or more languages outside of Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

  • Skilled in leveraging observability tooling (logging, monitoring, alerting).

  • Comfortable voicing your ideas to your team and the org and mentoring other engineers.

  • Works independently with a strong ability to navigate ambiguity in a proactive manner, requiring minimal supervision.

Nice to Haves
  • Production experience in functional programming.

  • Production experience in Python.

  • Experience working in partnership with a Data team.
