About the Role

The Senior HR Operations Associate is the driving force behind a seamless, compliant, and exceptional employee experience at True. As the primary owner of day-to-day HR transactions, you will manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle—from the moment
a candidate accepts an offer to their eventual offboarding.

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Offer Management: Generate, distribute, and track offer letters, ensuring all compensation, equity, and role details are accurate and compliant.

  • Pre-Employment Processing: Initiate and monitor background checks, drug screens (if applicable), and right-to-work documentation (e.g., I-9 verification).

  • Onboarding Coordination: Partner with IT and Hiring Managers to ensure new hires have a seamless Day One experience. Facilitate HR onboarding sessions and ensure all new hire documentation is completed.

  • Offboarding Execution: Manage voluntary and involuntary termination processes, including processing offboarding documentation, coordinating final paychecks with Payroll, calculating severance (if applicable), and ensuring the smooth transition
    of company assets.

Employee Lifecycle & Documentation

  • Lifecycle Transactions: Process all employment changes accurately and timely, including promotions, lateral transfers, manager changes, and compensation adjustments.

  • Records Management: Maintain accurate and secure electronic employee files, ensuring all required employment documentation is filed correctly and complies with data privacy regulations.

  • Auditing & Compliance: Conduct regular audits of employee data and physical/electronic records to ensure absolute accuracy. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Operational Support & Employee Experience

  • Front-Line Support: Act as the primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, lifecycle processes, and general employment questions.

  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in day-to-day operations and recommend actionable improvements to streamline workflows and enhance the employee experience.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the HRIS/Tech team to escalate system errors, with Payroll to ensure data accuracy for processing, and with HR Business Partners on complex employee changes.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in HR Operations, HR Administration, or a similar capacity.

  • Accuracy & Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with a proven track record of maintaining high data integrity in fast-paced environments.

  • HR Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of core HR principles, employee lifecycle processes, and basic employment law compliance.

  • System Proficiency: Experience operating as a user/administrator within enterprise HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity, Workday, ADP, BambooHR) for transactional processing.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service, empathy, and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee information.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate operational roadblocks independently and escalate highly complex issues to the appropriate centers of excellence.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
