About the Role

FMLA: Exempt

Peregrine Team is seeking an experienced HR Consultant to deliver high-impact HR advisory services in a dynamic environment. This role will act as a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance across a broad range of HR functions with a strong emphasis on employee relations, compliance, and union engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on HR policies, practices, and risk mitigation
  • Partner with leaders to assess organizational needs and provide recommendations on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy
  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective actions
  • Advise on union-related matters, including interpretation of collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), grievance processes, and labor relations strategy
  • Ensure compliance with federal, Washington state, and local employment laws, proactively identifying and mitigating risk
  • Analyze HR data, trends, and metrics to inform decision-making and provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Support and guide performance management processes, including coaching strategies, development planning, and performance improvement
  • Advise on leave of absence, accommodations, and related compliance (e.g., FMLA, ADA)
  • Lead or support HR audits, compliance reviews, and process assessments to identify gaps and recommend scalable solutions
  • Partner with stakeholders to drive change management initiatives, including restructures, policy implementation, and organizational transitions
  • Facilitate training sessions and provide guidance to managers on HR best practices and leadership effectiveness
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., legal counsel) as needed to support business objectives
  • Provide recommendations to enhance HR programs, policies, and overall employee experience

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR advisory or consulting capacity
  • Required: Experience working in a unionized environment, including collective bargaining agreement (CBA) interpretation and grievance handling
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels (Washington preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, including conducting investigations and managing complex, sensitive situations
  • Advanced proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels
  • High level of discretion with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and integrity
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other relevant HR certification preferred
