Overview:

Responsible for the partnership and collaboration of business line leadership and M&T Learning to support the learning needs across the organization. Sr. Learning Consultants partner with senior leaders in business lines to identify the root cause of business performance opportunities conduct a performance needs analysis and consult on potential learning support that directly impacts job performance. The Sr. Learning Consultant will have a working understanding of organizational vision and goals and assist business lines in creating a learning strategy, assist in the prioritization, and coordinate M&T Learning support for each learning initiative.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works strategically with the Human Resource Business Partners, senior management  and business line leadership to determine the learning strategy and learning needs
  • Work with business line leadership to determine learning needs that support the business lines annual performance goals and directly impacts employee performance
  • Manage various performance improvement solutions for assigned lines of business/functions.
  • Possess a working knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies and the development tools used to support it.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify performance gaps and for closing those gaps.
  • Partner with all aspects of M&T Learning to provide support for learning needs
  • Partner with the business line to select appropriate measurement and evaluation strategies to demonstrate learning outcomes, and value to the business .
  • Manage team resources, project plans and budgets; integrate and align with cross-functional partners
  • Lead cross-functional teams, communication strategy, resource application, and project management to meet learning initiatives
  • Assess, select and manage vendor relationships.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position plays a strategic role in supporting the organizations learning needs, business line goals and integrating and onboarding new employees to the Bank both through business as usual and acquisition. Partner with other HR business line colleagues to forecast and support emerging (or future) performance competencies and trends to meet business goals.

Provide counsel on key organizational issues related to development of employees.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years learning and development or business consulting experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience.

Ability to effectively combine instructional design methodology and adult learning principles to implement learning programs that maximize employee development and job performance

Ability to design business product training solutions for various skill levels and line of business needs

Prospect and analyze vendors for consideration to meet the training needs of the bank. 

Strong spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation application skills

Strong project management skills and the ability to influence a work team of subject matter experts. 

Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills

Fluent public speaking skills and presentation experience to highly skilled professionals. 

Experience effectively interacting and working with senior management

Ability to speak and write clearly.

Strong negotiation and influence skills

Ability to build productive customer relationships

Ability to make decisions independently

Ability to travel up to 35%

Education and Experience Preferred:

Proven success in effectively influencing senior leaders, and collaborating with HR leadership team members

Possess SHRM certification, training needs analysis certification or related work experience 

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
