Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI Agentics / Generative AI)

As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, develop, and deploy advanced LLM-based agent architectures that can reason, plan, and execute complex tasks autonomously. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across AI, infrastructure, and product engineering to deliver high-impact AI features that shape the future of Zoom’s platform.

• Designing and implementing autonomous agent systems capable of contextual reasoning and adaptive decision-making.

• Developing and optimizing large-scale LLM-powered services, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance.

• Building and maintaining prompt engineering frameworks and tools that enhance model accuracy and consistency.

• Collaborating with product and research teams to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.

• Implementing safety, evaluation, and monitoring mechanisms for responsible AI deployment.

• Mentoring and guiding other engineers in ML best practices, architecture design, and experimentation workflows

• Hold academic qualifications in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.

• 7+ years of experience in machine learning or AI engineering, with expertise in LLMs, NLP, or agentic systems.

• Demonstrate proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, Transformers, and LangChain.

• Able to demonstrate understanding of model optimization, evaluation, and safety for AI systems.

• Have experience building and deploying ML models in production environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.

• Demonstrate collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional, diverse teams.

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure;  there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
