Description

Tutored by Teachers (TbT) is a mission-driven, teacher-powered organization delivering high-impact, high-dosage tutoring to K-12 students across the country. We partner with schools and districts to improve academic outcomes for students who need it most. Now, we’re expanding our impact through direct-to-family channels via state-funded Education Savings Account (ESA) programs.

The Role:

We're seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Senior Manager to lead our D2C business initiative. This is a fractional role to start, with the potential to grow into a full-time position based on performance and traction.

You’ll act as the product and growth lead for this new strategic line of business-- driving us from 0 to 1 in the ESA space. This includes tracking ESA opportunities, securing required approvals, listing us on state marketplaces, and launching direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns to drive enrollment and revenue. You’ll also ensure a trusted, high-touch sign-up experience that reflects our commitment to quality and white-glove service.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the ESA business line from strategy through execution
  • Track and analyze ESA program developments across states
  • Lead applications, registrations, and marketplace listings
  • Design and run marketing campaigns -- especially direct-to-parent -- to drive sign-ups and conversions
  • Develop user journeys and onboarding flows that reflect our school-facing white-glove approach
  • Serve as a guide and concierge for families: understand student needs and match them with the right TbT supports
  • Build feedback loops to continuously improve the customer experience
  • Partner with internal teams (product, marketing, operations) to deliver seamless execution
  • Source and leverage demand generation and analytics tools to enable your work
  • Report on KPIs and suggest pivots and investments as needed
Requirements

Who You Are

  • A product-minded operator with strong growth instincts
  • Experience in edtech, consumer marketing, or D2C sales strongly preferred
  • Deep empathy for parents and educators
  • Able to roll up your sleeves, test ideas quickly, and learn from results
  • Strong communicator and project manager; able to rally cross-functional teams
  • Bonus: Familiarity with ESA programs, state education policy, or tutoring businesses
  • Archetypes that could be a good fit for this role: Edtech Growth/Marketing Manager, Marketplace Platform Operator, Start-up Generalist / Chief of Staff, Entrepreneur Who Has Started a Tutoring Business

Why This Role Matters
ESAs are a rapidly growing mechanism for families to access educational support. We believe Tutored by Teachers can be a trusted provider in this space -- bringing our school-proven impact and teacher-powered model directly to families. This role will help unlock that future.

Benefits

  • Company-owned laptop and office equipment
  • Fully remote work environment and a flexible schedule
  • Annual in-person team retreats
  • 3 weeks of vacation in the first year and an unlimited vacation policy after year 1 to help recharge

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
