About the role:

This role will be responsible for shaping, leading, and executing the global internal communications strategy of Kong. Your job will be to create a communication approach, tools and processes that bring out our values (COURAGE) and Leadership Principles. The outcome of the communication should make employees experience a cohesive, transparent, low hierarchy, high speed and engaging work environment. You will work closely with Kong's leadership, People, Marketing and other key stakeholders as we scale and evolve. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Refine and Execute Internal Communications Strategy
  • Craft and execute per the global internal communications strategy to ensure that messaging is consistent, impactful, and aligns with company values, culture, and goals
  • Tailor the strategy for diverse teams and regions, considering the company's growing global footprint
  • Leadership Communication: Partner with senior leadership to advise on and create clear, effective communication strategies for key messages. Ensure leadership is connected with employees through regular updates, town halls, and other internal channels
  • Employee Engagement and Culture: Develop initiatives to drive employee engagement and reinforce the company's culture through internal communications. Work closely on initiatives like employee recognition programs, surveys, and feedback mechanisms to gauge and improve morale
  • Crisis and Change Communication: Lead communication efforts during company changes, crises, or important transitions, ensuring that messages are transparent, timely, and consistent. Act as a trusted advisor on navigating sensitive situations with empathy and clarity
  • Content Creation and Messaging: Oversee the creation of high-quality content for internal channels such as emails, intranet, newsletters, video messages, and Slack channels. Ensure messaging is clear, concise, and tailored to the audience (e.g., leadership, employees, remote teams)
  • Channel Management:Manage and optimize internal communication channels (e.g., intranet, Slack, email, video conferencing platforms) to ensure effective distribution of messages across teams and geographies
  • KPIs: Define key metrics for measuring the effectiveness of internal communications and employee engagement. Regularly analyze communication efforts and use data to improve content, channels, and engagement strategies
  • Collaboration with People Teams: Work closely with the People teams to ensure alignment between internal communications, employee experience, and organizational development efforts. Play a role in promoting company-wide initiatives like onboarding, DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), and professional development programs
  • Global Team Support: Support diverse teams in various regions with localized communications, ensuring that different cultures, languages, and time zones are considered. Foster a sense of connection among remote or geographically dispersed employees
  • And any additional tasks required by manager

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications in a global company 
  • Leadership experience is a plus with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of developing and executing internal communications strategies in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments, preferably in tech

Skills & Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of communication strategies and best practices, including crisis management, executive communications, employee engagement, and organizational change
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise, and engaging manner
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with a variety of communication tools and platforms (e.g., intranet, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, newsletters, surveys, etc.)
  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to lead a team, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment. High emotional intelligence and a strong understanding of organizational dynamics, with the ability to navigate and advise on sensitive or complex issues
  • Global Mindset: Experience working in global or geographically distributed teams and understanding the nuances of communicating across cultures and time zones

Kong has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to specific candidate location, role, skill set and level of experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards including sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role. Benefits may vary depending on location. US based employees are typically offered access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short and long term disability benefits, basic life and AD&D insurance, among others. The typical base pay range for this role in the US is $182,000 - 212,000.
