Role

As a servant leader, you will lead and scale SmarterDx’s solution revenue cycle solution engineering function, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technical integrations for revenue cycle integrations from SmarterDx into health system sources (EHRs, coding systems) for our customers while providing white glove service to our health systems. You bring a strong blend of people leadership, technical fluency, and operational rigor. You understand healthcare data flows, EHR integrations, and the realities of deploying enterprise integrations in complex hospital environments. You are comfortable engaging directly with CIOs, revenue cycle executives, IT leaders, and frontline operators. You simplify complexity, build confidence, and position SmarterDx as a strategic partner rather than a vendor.

You will manage highly accomplished, fully remote revenue cycle solution consultants and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Customer Success to deliver seamless solutions across multiple products. This role blends strategy and execution. You will scale teams while remaining hands-on to unblock teams, solve complex technical challenges, and continuously improve how we evolve within the revenue cycle space.

**This role is fully remote within the US**

What You’ll Do

  • You are energized by managing a highly experienced team, including experts whose knowledge may surpass your own, and you take pride in empowering them and bringing their insights together into a clear, unified strategy.
  • Ensure excellence in revenue cycle solution delivery across all new and existing customer deployments, ensuring implementations are reliable, scalable, and delivered on time.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of client-facing revenue cycle solution consultants, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Cultivate and maintain solution design standards, documentation, and best practices across revenue cycle integrations (including API, HL7, and database extract integrations).
  • Partner with Implementation, Product, and Engineering teams to align complex solutions with product strategy and client timelines.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk integrations, providing hands-on technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with customer technical teams, including EHR, data, and IT stakeholders, to develop secure and compliant data exchange.
  • Establish metrics and reporting for integration performance, throughput, and reliability, and communicate insights to company leadership.
  • Continuously improve integration tooling, automation, and processes to support scale as SmarterDx grows.
  • Drive technical design reviews, architectural decisions, and technology evaluations to ensure platform scalability and maintainability.

What You Bring

  • 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare technology implementation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (responsible for high impact portfolios, managing teams of 10+ resources, or both).
  • 5+ years experience in both hospital revenue cycle management, including in-depth knowledge of hospital revenue cycle workflows, with particular emphasis on clinical charge capture through claims processing
  • Hands-on experience and expertise in building revenue cycle solutions across HL7, FHIR, API integration, and database extracts for complex integrations with large health systems and enterprise customers, including extensive experience designing revenue cycle solutions with inpatient EHRs (including Epic, Cerner)
  • Excellent people leadership skills, with a track record of empowering high performing technical leaders, setting clear expectations, and driving results.
  • Strong delivery management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives across customers and products.
  • Persuasive and clear in client-facing written and verbal communication, with the ability to confidently engage with health system resources from executives to analysts while mitigating risks. You’re a pro at translating business and clinical requirements into technical integration solutions (and vice versa)
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to forecast capacity, identify bottlenecks, and measure success.
  • Experience working in startup or high-growth environments, balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications or equivalent experience relevant to revenue cycle workflow subject matter expertise across major EHRs (particularly Epic)
  • Experience with AI/ML solutions in healthcare
  • AWS certifications or equivalent cloud implementation experience (AWS Solutions Architect, AI/ML Specialty, etc)
  • Familiarity with CDI operational workflows

  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
