Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering to join our ZTC team. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA, reporting to the Sr. Director of Software Engineering.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
- Lead end-to-end development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of services in our ZScaler Cloud Connector, ZT Gateway, and ZScaler Microsegmentation clouds
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to manage changing priorities, ensure timelines, support escalations, and enhance collaboration between local and remote teams
- Lead by example with hands-on involvement, mentoring engineers to grow their skills, and overseeing critical tasks including code reviews, bug triaging, and build processes
- Maintain a customer-first mindset by participating in escalations, demos, and beta trials to deliver a product centered around an exceptional customer experience
- Contribute to the ZTC leadership team regarding company-level processes and strategic initiatives

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- 15+ years of software development experience with at least 5 years focused on building distributed solutions for SaaS platforms at cloud scale
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and services, including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, firewall policy enforcement, and traffic forwarding rules
- Experience working with AWS/Azure/GCP networking, specifically transit gateway, IGW, NATGW, NACL, security groups, GWLB, ILB, Route53, and Azure DNS
- Proficiency in agile collaboration models (e.g., Kanban/Scrum) and Jira
- Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top talent
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Strong distributed systems and SaaS development experience
- Deep knowledge of firewalls and networking protocols
- In-depth knowledge of a major CSP such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
