The Role
Tala is a global technology company building the world’s most accessible financial services. As we undergo rapid growth—expanding across customers, markets, and products—we are seeking a strategic leader to ensure our plans are robust and our execution is disciplined. The Senior Manager, Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping Tala's future direction. You will co-lead our strategic planning processes alongside Finance, ensuring multi-year strategies and annual plans translate effectively into clear, actionable goals. You'll build critical frameworks to enhance decision-making, drive improvements in our operating cadence, provide essential market intelligence, and foster cross-functional alignment—ultimately bridging the gap between strategy and execution and accelerating Tala's mission to expand financial access for millions globally.
What You'll Do
- Co-lead the development of Tala's multi-year strategies and AOP in partnership with Finance and leadership
- Build, implement, and operationalize robust frameworks to evaluate, size, scope, and prioritize strategic initiatives
- Manage and refine Tala's core operating cadence (e.g., business reviews) to enhance effectiveness, alignment, and decision-making speed
- Drive cross-functional alignment and execution discipline against strategic priorities, managing associated process improvements and change
- Establish processes for collaborating with local market teams to build and maintain a centralized view of competitive and market intelligence, ensuring quality and consistency
- Provide actionable insights derived from market intelligence to inform strategic planning and key decisions
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, investment banking, or a related analytical field, preferably within a high-growth tech or financial services environment
- Proven track record of significantly contributing to strategic planning processes (e.g., multi-year plans, AOP) and developing/implementing analytical frameworks for business case evaluation, prioritization, and decision-making
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills; ability to synthesize complex information, identify key insights, and develop data-driven recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects and effectively influence and align diverse teams (e.g., Product, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Marketing) without direct authority
- Exceptional communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills; capable of articulating complex strategies, analyses, and recommendations clearly and concisely to executive leadership and broad stakeholder groups
- Deep understanding of goal-setting frameworks and the mechanisms required to connect strategic plans to operational execution and performance monitoring
- Proven ability to manage organizational change effectively, including stakeholder management, communication planning, and driving adoption of new processes or strategies
- High degree of comfort navigating ambiguity; ability to independently structure complex problems, develop hypotheses, and drive towards actionable solutions
- Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with experience working closely with Finance teams on planning, budgeting, and business case validation
- Deep understanding of the fintech landscape, consumer lending, or specific emerging markets where Tala operates
- Experience working in a global company with distributed teams
