Morningstar is a global leader in independent investment research, data, and investment management, with over $350B in AUM and operations in 32 countries. We empower financial professionals - advisors, asset managers, and institutional investors - with trusted insights and tools.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Marketing Manager, Client Solutions to serve as a strategic partner to our business unit marketing teams and help elevate how Morningstar connects with professional investor audiences. This role blends segment marketing, solutions marketing, and sales enablement to ensure that our content, messaging, and marketing programs reflect the real needs, challenges, and goals of advisors, asset managers, and institutional investors.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the financial services landscape-including investment products, workflows, buying behaviors, and client priorities across segments. You will develop strategies and materials that help our teams articulate Morningstar's value, address client problems, and drive commercial outcomes. This is a high‑visibility, cross‑functional role ideal for a marketer who is both strategic and hands‑on, adaptable, and comfortable influencing across a matrixed organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic marketing partner to business unit teams, translating client needs and market dynamics into segment‑specific content strategies and marketing programs.
  • Lead segment marketing efforts for advisors, asset managers, and institutional investors-defining segment insights, messaging, buying journeys, and key use cases.
  • Develop solutions‑level messaging frameworks that connect Morningstar's capabilities to client problems, workflows, and value drivers.
  • Build sales enablement materials including pitch decks, product narratives, positioning guides, client case studies, and competitive insights.
  • Partner with Research, Product, and BU Marketing teams to ensure content and messaging are accurate, differentiated, and aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Support go‑to‑market planning for new capabilities, research initiatives, and priority commercial campaigns.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the industry landscape, regulatory environment, product categories, and competitive positioning across our segments and solutions.
  • Adhere to content governance, quality standards, and brand guidelines for all sales‑ and client‑facing materials.

Qualifications
  • 5-10+ years of experience in marketing, product, or sales within asset management, investment management, wealth management, or financial services.
  • Deep knowledge of the professional investor ecosystem and client needs, including advisors, asset managers, and institutional investors.
  • Proven experience developing value propositions, messaging frameworks, and GTM materials for sophisticated B2B audiences.
  • Strong understanding of investment products, portfolio construction concepts, and the workflows of professional investors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to simplify complex concepts for commercial, marketing, and client‑facing stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering with sales teams and creating tools that support commercial conversations.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data, market insights, and client feedback.
  • Ability to influence cross‑functional partners in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to work at least 4+ days/week onsite in New York, Chicago, or London.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
