About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing Edge team. You will be a key contributor to designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure supporting our Galleon ruggedized, mobile data centers and their integration with our Commander cloud platform. You will work on cutting-edge technologies, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our distributed computing platform deployed in diverse environments


Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement robust and scalable network solutions for our Galleon data centers, encompassing LAN/WAN, data center, and edge network infrastructure This includes the network architecture connecting Galleon deployments with our Commander cloud infrastructure for centralized monitoring and management
  • Analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for efficiency and low latency across our distributed infrastructure
  • Design and implement security measures (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, access control lists) to protect our network infrastructure
  • Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline network operations.
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolve complex network issues
  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation (diagrams, configurations, procedures)
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and other teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with the overall platform
  • Stay current with the latest networking technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact, including advancements in edge computing, mobile data center networking, and cloud integration
  • Analyze network costs and identify opportunities for optimization, such as leveraging cost-effective cloud services, negotiating better pricing with vendors, and implementing efficient routing strategies
  • Analyze network traffic patterns and forecast future bandwidth requirements to ensure the network infrastructure can scale to accommodate growing demands
  • Design and implement multi-cloud networking solutions to enable seamless communication and data exchange between different cloud providers
  • Implement Zero Touch Provisioning solutions for rapid deployment and configuration of network devices in remote and environments, minimizing manual intervention


Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on large-scale, distributed systems, edge computing, and cloud integration
  • Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, VXLAN, EVPN)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including VPC design, transit gateways, and security groups
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including zero-trust architectures, defense-in-depth strategies, and implementing security controls at different network layers
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform) for network configuration management and orchestration
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
  • Experience with container networking (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and strong communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.  In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
