Who We're Looking For - Senior Paid Media Buyer

The Penny Hoarder (a property of Clearlink) is a leading personal finance brand that helps millions of readers make smarter financial decisions through engaging, practical, and actionable content. As part of a mission-driven team, you’ll help expand our reach and impact while contributing to the growth of a business built on trust, value, and performance.

The Penny Hoarder is seeking a Senior Media Buyer with deep expertise in paid search and a strong foundation in performance and affiliate marketing. This role will be responsible for managing a multi-million-dollar budget, optimizing for both revenue and profit, and driving strategic experimentation across creative, copy, and landing pages to improve down-funnel performance. The ideal candidate brings a sharp analytical mindset, a test-and-learn approach, and a proven track record of delivering measurable growth through paid media.

We are open to remote candidates who are willing to work East Coast (EST) hours.

The Impact You Will Make

  • Own and manage a $12M+ annual paid search budget, driving profitable customer acquisition across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
  • Develop and execute strategies to scale performance while maintaining efficiency across paid search, and support growth in other paid channels as needed.
  • Design and run A/B and multivariate tests across ad copy, creative, and landing pages to validate hypotheses and improve yield, conversion rate, and user quality.
  • Evaluate performance across the full marketing funnel to identify and close gaps in user experience, conversion flow, and revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with affiliate and editorial teams to align paid campaigns with monetized content, ensuring optimal client and user outcomes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (CPL, ROAS, profit per session, lead quality, etc.) and deliver actionable reporting to stakeholders.
  • Stay current on platform updates, algorithm changes, and competitor strategies to inform ongoing media buying strategies.

What You Bring

  • 5–8+ years of experience in performance-focused digital media buying, with a strong focus on paid search.
  • Proven success managing large-scale budgets ($10M+/year) and scaling campaigns profitably.
  • Deep understanding of affiliate marketing models, lead generation, and revenue-per-click or revenue-per-session monetization strategies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in landing page optimization, including real-world testing examples that led to measurable improvements.
  • Experience optimizing toward down-funnel quality metrics like lead-to-sale rate, client retention, or lifetime value.
  • Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Google Sheets, GA4, Looker, etc.) and marketing platforms (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads).
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset.
  • Bonus: Experience working within content or publisher environments.
