Founded in 2012, EasyPost is a YC unicorn whose mission is to make shipping simple for businesses, from garage startups to the Fortune 500. Shipping, now more than ever, is the backbone of the global economy, but integrating the technology-enabled operations of a modern business with the low-tech and complex shipping industry has always been a challenge. EasyPost solves this problem with the first developer-friendly REST API for shipping, and we continue to push boundaries and discover new ways to simplify shipping for all. Our team is rapidly growing, and this is the perfect time to get on board. Join us, and help build the shipping infrastructure of the future.

About the Role:

EasyPost is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Developer Tooling Team. This is a high-impact role focused on designing and building the internal tooling and automation that make development at EasyPost faster, safer, and more reliable. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll shape the systems, workflows, and standards that empower our product engineers — from local development and CI/CD pipelines to observability, security, and compliance guardrails. You'll work across the stack and organization, identifying friction points and turning them into opportunities to improve how we build and ship software. Your work will directly influence engineering velocity, system reliability, and operational excellence. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives on enablement, automation, and metrics — someone who wants to empower others by building the platforms behind the platform.

What You Will Do:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

o Design, build, and maintain internal tools and platforms that reduce friction across the development lifecycle — including source control, CI pipelines, testing, packaging, deployment, and rollback.
o Identify high-friction or high-risk engineering workflows and design scalable, user-friendly tooling to improve them.
o Integrate with observability, security, and compliance systems to make best practices default and easy to adopt.
o Use infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to ensure development environments and tools are reliable, reproducible, and auditable.
o Embed tooling in our GitHub-based workflows, including GitHub Actions and PR automation, to support safer, faster delivery.
o Build and maintain integrations into our deployment infrastructure, including systems like FluxCD and other GitOps workflows.
o Define and track meaningful metrics to evaluate developer experience, platform health, and team productivity — using data to inform what you build and how it evolves.
o Contribute to the standardization and documentation of engineering practices across teams.
o Take ownership of the reliability, usability, and maintainability of the systems you build.
o Mentor other engineers and foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

About you:

o Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or a related field), or equivalent professional experience.
o 7+ years of experience in software or platform engineering, with a focus on internal tools, automation, or developer building and scaling developer platforms or internal tooling in fast-moving engineering environments.
o Strong understanding of modern development practices — including Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation.
o Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and config management (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), ideally in cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
o Deep familiarity with the GitHub toolchain, including GitHub Actions, pull request workflows, and GitHub-integrated CI/CD.
o Experience integrating deployment tooling with systems like FluxCD or other GitOps-based platforms.
o Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Go, or Rust, as well as comfort with scripting and automation tasks.
o Familiarity with observability stacks and operational tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Graphite, Sentry).
o Demonstrated ability to use metrics and feedback loops to drive continuous improvement in tooling and developer experience.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, empathy, and documentation.

About you, part two:

o Deep expertise in developer tooling and platform engineering, especially around database workflows.
o Strong focus on metrics-driven development, with the ability to set goals, gather data, and iterate based on real-world feedback.
o High standards for security, auditability, and compliance, and a track record of baking those into tooling by default.
o Initiative and autonomy in identifying pain points, prioritizing high-impact work, and driving cross-functional projects.
o Leadership in collaborative engineering environments, with the ability to influence culture, systems, and standards.
o Clear and consistent communication in a remote-first team, including documentation, technical proposals, and cross-team coordination.

What We Offer:

o Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
o Competitive compensation package and equity
o Monthly work from home stipend of $50
o Flexible work schedule and paid time off
o Collaborative culture with a supportive team
o A great place to work with unlimited growth opportunities
o The opportunity to make massive contributions at a hyper-growth company
o Make an impact on a product helping ship millions of packages per day

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
