About the Role

We’re looking for a senior PR professional to help scale our communications and build a consistent, high-quality media presence. This role will partner closely with the Head of Communications, combining strong execution with the ability to shape narratives and contribute to overall strategy.

You will play a key role in turning company developments into stories that resonate — with media, partners, and broader audiences.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive a steady pipeline of meaningful media coverage across top-tier tech and business outlets, local media, and relevant industry-specific publications
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with journalists, editors, and contributors across relevant media
  • Identify and develop compelling story angles based on company developments, partnerships, and product milestones
  • Own the full media cycle: from idea generation and pitching to securing coverage and managing follow-ups
  • Write and refine high-quality materials, including press releases, pitches, bylines, engaging blog posts, and executive talking points
  • Partner with teams across the company (product, engineering, business, leadership) to surface newsworthy moments
  • Support communications for launches, partnerships, and market expansions
  • Contribute to broader communications strategy, bringing ideas and perspective on positioning and messaging
  • Support cross-functional communications initiatives, including marketing, sales, and employer branding / HR-related projects when needed
What You'll Need
  • An experienced PR professional with a strong track record of securing media coverage in tech and/or business media
  • Well-connected, with an existing network of journalist relationships you actively maintain
  • Comfortable operating independently and driving outcomes end-to-end
  • A strong writer with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives from complex or technical topics
  • Curious and proactive — you don’t wait for stories, you find and shape them
  • Confident collaborating with stakeholders at different levels, including senior leadership
  • Able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience with social media as an extension of PR efforts — amplifying coverage, shaping narratives, and engaging audiences — is a strong plus
Nice to Have
  • Experience in high-growth tech companies or emerging technology sectors (e.g., autonomous systems, robotics, AI)
  • Experience working across multiple markets or with international media
  • Background in both in-house and agency environments

Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the U.S. The employer is not offering relocation sponsorship, and remote work options are not available.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
