Join us in our mission to create a world where anyone, anywhere can transform their life through access to education. We're seeking talented individuals who share our passion and drive to revolutionize the way the world learns.

At Coursera, we are committed to building a globally diverse team and are thrilled to extend employment opportunities to individuals in any country where we have a legal entity. We require candidates to possess eligible working rights and have a compatible timezone overlap with their team to facilitate seamless collaboration. As a remote-first company, our interviews and onboarding are entirely virtual, providing a smooth and efficient experience for our candidates.

Job Overview:

The Design & Research teams play a vital role in Coursera’s success. These teams are responsible for gathering learner & educator insights and translating them into recommendations that help Coursera achieve a seamless experience across its platform. These teams are divided into three main areas: Product Experience, Learning Content Experience, and Core Foundations.

The experience of learning and transformation is inherently challenging. Your work as a designer will be to create simplicity from complexity and influence everything from the most micro-interaction to full-enterprise learning programs with thousands of employee learners. Our goal is to make education accessible to all and we need extraordinary designers to realize this.

Responsibilities:

  • Work through design problems from beginning to end, translating qualitative and quantitative data and high-level concepts into workflows, visual designs, and detailed interactions that create delightful user experiences.
  • Navigate the initial ambiguous phases of design to define product vision and strategy, aligning business and customer needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including product managers, engineers, data scientists, and researchers—to deliver products from concept to launch.
  • Create globally scalable, locally relevant, and inclusive experiences that drive business growth.
  • Balance prioritization and delivery across multiple projects while driving strategic outcomes as a Design Lead.
  • Mentor designers on best practices, raising the bar for design quality and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years experience as a UX (User Experience) / Product Designer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to utilize effective communication and collaboration strategies with cross-functional partners—including product managers, engineers, data scientists, researchers, other designers, and executives—in evolving design proposals. Experience with design and collaboration tools (e.g. Figma, Figjam and others).
  • Able to consider and rationalize the technical difficulty of different designs, finding ways to test concepts as simply as possible.
  • Experience building new products and conducting user research to inform MVP definition and development.
  • Mastery of UX design skills required to facilitate design workshops, apply solution frameworks, create user flows, define IA, create wireframes, and create prototypes.
  • Strong visual design / UI skills with experience leveraging and building upon a design system.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing with a mobile-first lens.

Nice-To-Have:

  • Experience as a course instructor or teaching assistant.
  • Experience designing with emerging technologies, e.g. GenAI.
  • Depending on the topic area you are interested in: experience designing for consumer SaaS product(s), enterprise products or consumer mobile.
