About Monte Carlo

As businesses increasingly rely on data to power digital products and drive better decision-making, it’s mission-critical that this data is accurate and reliable. Monte Carlo, the data reliability company, is the creator of the industry's first end-to-end Data Observability platform. Named an Inc. Best Workplace for 2024, a DBTA Readers Choice for Best Data Observability Solution for 2024, a G2 Best Product for 2023, and the "New Relic for data" by Forbes, we've raised $236M from Accel, ICONIQ Growth, GGV Capital, Redpoint Ventures, IVP, and Salesforce Ventures. Monte Carlo works with data-driven companies like Fox, Pepsico, Amazon, American Airlines, and other leading enterprises to help them achieve trust in data.

About the role:

As a Senior Product Designer, you will design user experiences for our category-defining data observability platform. Data observability is quickly becoming one of the hottest trends in the already hot data space, as it empowers data platform teams to ensure high-quality data is used to make decisions, drive engagement, and grow the business. In this role, you will collaborate with a small team of experienced designers, engineers, and product managers to ensure our platform helps customers drastically improve the quality and reliability of their data. You will be a strong customer advocate who loves digging into technical requirements to build world-class design solutions from the ground up.

Why this role is impactful:

  • You'll design for the explosion of data applications, which has exposed a glaring and unsolved need to improve the quality, access, and consistency of data for everyone in the organization.

  • You'll join a world-class team of experienced, thoughtful, and caring people: we prioritize shipping fast, deeply understanding our customers, and having fun.

  • You'll have complete autonomy to drive design decisions: design is foundational to achieving our vision.

Location:

Anywhere in the Americas

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Creating delightful UX for data engineers, data analysts, and anyone who interacts with data regularly

  • Owning the end-to-end design process for projects, including research, prototyping, design, iteration, user testing, and collaborative engineering handoffs

  • Designing simple solutions and then iterating on them as our product matures

  • Collaborating closely with engineering and product to solve customer problems

  • Understanding technical constraints, user needs, and business requirements that shape the product.

We’re excited about you because you have:

  • Seven years of experience in UX/UI design is required

  • Experience with enterprise SaaS solutions and data solutions preferred

  • Track record designing impactful dashboards, data visualizations, and business collaboration workflows required

  • Passion for gathering feedback from users to derive UX insights preferred

  • Ownership mindset, iterative thinking, and relentless customer focus preferred

  • Deep empathy for our customers with a focus on adding value and happiness.

  • Speed: A sense of urgency to get results and learn quickly.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
