About CoLab

At CoLab, we help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner.

CoLab is the AI platform for driving stronger engineering decisions. Every design review in CoLab builds a knowledge repository of design feedback, decisions, and lessons learned - which AI agents draw from to flag issues on future designs before they compound. The more your team works in CoLab, the smarter it gets and the faster you arrive at the ideal design. Companies like Ford, Komatsu, and Johnson Controls use CoLab to catch issues earlier, eliminate rework cycles, and bring products to market faster.

Founded in St. John’s, Newfoundland, CoLab has grown quickly from our first customer in 2019 to a rapidly scaling company. We’ve recently been recognized on Deloitte’s Fast 50™ and Fast 500™, and named a Canadian company to watch by The Globe and Mail and Financial Post.

About the Role

As a Senior Product Manager on the Build Engineering Reviews team at CoLab, you’ll own one of the most strategically important areas of our platform: how engineering teams collaborate, review designs, and make better decisions together.

This team sits at the intersection of product strategy, workflow design, and deep technical domain knowledge. You’ll work on the systems and experiences that help mechanical engineering teams run effective design reviews across complex products, stakeholders, and development cycles.

You do not need to come from a mechanical engineering background. But you do need the ability — and genuine curiosity — to quickly understand highly technical customer problems and translate them into clear product direction. The engineers and customers you’ll work with are deeply technical. Your job is to bridge that complexity with strong product thinking, prioritization, and execution.

Although you sit within the product organization, you’ll be deeply embedded with a highly technical engineering team. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, customer-facing teams, and leadership to shape the roadmap, drive alignment, and ensure we’re solving the right problems for our customers.

This is not a role where success comes from simply gathering feature requests and writing tickets. You’ll need strong product judgment, comfort operating in ambiguity, and the ability to build trust with people who think deeply about technical systems and workflows every day.

If you’re energized by difficult product challenges, curious about how complex products get designed and built, and excited about shaping software used by some of the world’s leading engineering organizations, this could be your next role.

Our Ideal Candidate

You’re an experienced B2B SaaS Product Manager who knows how to navigate complexity, align stakeholders, and ship meaningful products in technical environments. But this role goes beyond owning a roadmap or driving individual initiatives.

At CoLab’s stage, we need PMs who actively help level up the product organization itself — shaping how we work, improving product processes, introducing best practices, and raising the bar for cross-functional collaboration and decision making. You won’t succeed here by operating in a silo. The strongest PMs at CoLab are deeply engaged with the broader team and care as much about improving the system around them as they do about delivering their own work.

You may not be a mechanical engineer — and that’s okay. What matters most is your ability to quickly build domain understanding, ask thoughtful questions, and work effectively with highly technical teams and customers.

You’ll thrive in this role if:

  • You’ve managed complex B2B SaaS products with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and technical constraints.
  • You’re comfortable working closely with engineers and can hold your own in technical conversations without needing to be the deepest technical expert in the room.
  • You’re highly curious and enjoy diving into unfamiliar domains until you truly understand customer workflows and pain points.
  • You know how to balance customer needs, business goals, and technical realities when making product decisions.
  • You communicate clearly and directly. You can simplify complexity without oversimplifying the problem.
  • You’re energized by hard problems. The average person might think this role sounds overwhelming — if it sounds exciting instead, you’ll probably thrive here.

You likely won’t enjoy this role if:

  • You prefer highly defined problem spaces with clear answers.
  • You avoid technical ambiguity or struggle to build credibility with engineering teams.
  • You see product management primarily as backlog management or feature delivery coordination.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and evolve the product strategy and roadmap for the Build Engineering Reviews team.
  • Partner closely with engineering and design to deliver thoughtful, scalable product experiences for engineering teams.
  • Build deep understanding of mechanical engineering review workflows and customer pain points.
  • Conduct customer research and work directly with users to uncover opportunities and validate solutions.
  • Translate complex technical and workflow challenges into clear product direction and priorities.
  • Write clear product requirements that help teams understand both the problem and desired outcome.
  • Drive alignment across product, engineering, customer success, and go-to-market teams.
  • Use data, customer feedback, and product intuition to make informed prioritization decisions.
  • Help the team balance short-term customer needs with long-term product strategy and platform scalability.

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in B2B SaaS environments.
  • Proven experience working on technically complex software products.
  • Strong product thinking, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering and design teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to learn complex technical domains quickly and confidently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers is considered an asset.
  • Experience in CAD, PLM, engineering software, manufacturing, or other technical industries is a bonus

Extra Details

  • This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package that includes stock options.
  • This role offers an extended health and benefits package that includes unlimited paid vacation and RRSP matching.
  • Our main office location is in St. John’s, NL where we offer hybrid and remote opportunities.
  • This role has the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in North America.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
