So what are we looking for in new team members? At Scribd, Inc., we hire for “GRIT.” Traditionally defined as the intersection of passion and perseverance toward long-term goals, GRIT reflects the mindset we expect from every employee. For us, it also serves as a practical framework for how we work: setting and achieving Goals, delivering Results within your role, contributing Innovative ideas and solutions, and strengthening the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

This posting reflects an approved, open position within the organization.

About the role

Everand is our subscription service for ebooks and audiobooks. Fable is our social reading community, where millions of people track what they read, build lists, and talk about books together. Both have a strong, established base of readers, and we’re embarking on a journey to make both apps work great for a wider range of readers. We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to work on high-impact consumer experiences across both apps and help solve one of our hardest, most important problems: helping every reader find the next book they'll love.

You will

  • Own the strategy, vision, and roadmap for squad, working across Everand and Fable.

  • Lead a cross-functional squad, working closely with engineering, design, research, and data to turn the roadmap into shipped features.

  • Balance large swing investments with continuous experimentation in order to improve key engagement metrics.

  • Balance qualitative and quantitative data from cross-functional partners to guide your decision-making.

  • Partner deeply with data science and engineering on the recommendation, ranking, and search systems behind the experience, making product tradeoffs on relevance and quality.

  • Create experiences that blend joyful design, editorial insight, and algorithmic brains to help readers find new reads.

You have

  • 5+ years of experience in product management working on consumer products at scale. Experience with native mobile apps and subscriptions is a plus.

  • A track record of turning major pain points into product strategy, and defining an opinionated roadmap for your area.

  • Fluency partnering with engineers and data scientists on experiences that leverage Machine Learning such as recommendations, search, and ranking systems.

  • Strong proficiency with both quantitative (e.g., A/B testing and data analytics) and qualitative (e.g., user testing, interviews) research methods.

  • A sharp product sense and eye for consumer experiences that feel effortless and delightful.

  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and communication, with clear writing and crisp prioritization.

  • A passion for books and reading!

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
