The Team: Morningstar's Technology Program Delivery team is responsible for managing projects for Global Corporate Technology within the domains of Infrastructure, Employee Experience, and Corporate Systems, as well as integration of company acquisitions, Information Security, and office and data center buildouts.
The Role: We're looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and collaborative Senior Project Manager with strong attention to detail to drive projects/initiatives to successfully meet their goals. The ideal candidate is a good partner with executive team members and project stakeholders, a good communicator, and a fast learner especially when it comes to understanding Morningstar's product offerings and Corporate Systems. S/he thrives on challenges in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, exhibits good problem-solving skills, and has an ownership mindset. Partners with business and IT leads to develop the business case, scope the work, build plans, and successfully manage risks and issues to deliver outcomes.
This position is based in our Chicago office. We follow a hybrid policy of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work.
Responsibilities:
  • Documenting and tracking key information such as project objectives, assumptions, issues, risks, milestones, success criteria, and in/out of scope deliverables;
  • Creating the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), documenting tasks, identifying dependencies, developing and managing the milestone/task schedule;
  • Ensuring that intended business value of assigned projects are delivered in a timely manner, within budget, and per stakeholder expectations and requirements;
  • Manage technology projects from definition to implementation and apply a consistent project management framework around projects. Adhere to project in-take process and prioritize projects according to company objectives and resource availability;
  • Lead project discovery via consultation with key stakeholders/project sponsors to define project success criteria, key project task details and secure resource commitment to deliver against requirements on time/budget
  • Reviews project design, business goals and KPIs, financial projections, and prepares summary graphic slides, tables, and presentations;
  • Acts as the first line of communication and coordination to external and internal stakeholders;
  • Manage a matrixed project team and able to influence team members toward a common goal;
  • Analyze project details and moving parts to better understand issues and risks. When necessary, employ business analysis and architecture methods to drive clarity;
  • For effective communication, track and communicate project status, issues, and risks to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, and drive appropriate escalations;
  • Ensuring that intended business benefits of assigned projects are delivered in a timely manner, within budget, and per stakeholder expectations and requirements.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree with more than five years of solid project management experience;
  • A process mindset and strong teamwork skills;
  • A servant leader, when appropriate;
  • PMP and ITIL certifications are preferred;
  • Knowledge of Corporate systems such as Workday, ServiceNow, and general understanding of how SaaS applications are operated during implementation and ongoing.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Asana and JIRA;
  • Demonstrated presentation skills to facilitate the review and understanding of materials to key project stakeholders including leadership;
  • Ability to work independently to generate, synthesize and analyze data, reports, and tables;
  • Excellent technical proficiency with information technologies (e.g. Microsoft Office) and literature-searching, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint ;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving and organizational abilities;
  • Ability to develop and monitor project plans, mitigate risk, and resolve issues;
  • Experience working in a Project Management Office (PMO).

Base Salary Compensation Range
$82,244.00 - 139,800.00 USD Annual
Total Cash Compensation Range
$92,525.00 - 157,275.00 USD Annual
