As a Senior Advanced Research and Development Engineer - Navigation Analyst here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in advancing alternative navigation technologies. You will focus on analyzing and developing innovative navigation solutions that enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of aerospace systems.
In this role, you will impact the development of cutting-edge navigation systems that support the future of aerospace navigation, contributing to safer and more efficient flight operations worldwide.
You will work out of our Redmond, WA or Plymouth, MN locations on a Hybrid work schedule. NO RELOCATION OFFERED.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Analyze and develop alternative navigation algorithms and systems to improve aerospace navigation capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation solutions into broader aerospace platforms.
- Conduct research and testing to validate navigation system performance and reliability under various conditions.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in research and development focused on navigation systems or related aerospace technologies.
- Experience working with navigation algorithms, sensor fusion and alternative navigation techniques.
- Proficiency with navigation system simulation tools, data analysis software and programming languages such as C++ or MATLAB, Python.
- Experience with aerospace navigation standards and regulatory requirements.
WE VALUE
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with GNSS, inertial navigation systems, and alternative navigation technologies.
- Expertise in alternative navigation methods such as vision-based navigation, and robust sensor fusion techniques that enhance navigation reliability in GPS-denied or degraded environments.
- Proven ability to develop and validate algorithms that integrate multiple sensor inputs including inertial sensors, radar altimeters, cameras, LiDAR, and other environmental sensors to provide accurate, resilient, and continuous navigation solutions under challenging operational conditions
- Strong understanding of error modeling, fault detection, and mitigation strategies to ensure navigation system integrity and robustness.
- Experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques applied to navigation data processing and anomaly detection.
- Familiarity with simulation environments and hardware-in-the-loop testing to evaluate alternative navigation system performance
- Experience with CUDA programming and NVIDIA Jetson platforms for high-performance embedded computing in navigation applications.
- Proven track record of successfully transitioning research innovations into deployable aerospace navigation products or solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
- Familiarity with software development best practices and architecture principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Connecticut, and Hawaii is $137000 - $172,000. For Washington and most major metropolitan areas in New York and California, the annual base salary range is $157000 - $197000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
