Your Job:
As a Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE), you will play a critical role in orchestrating cross-team delivery efforts for a group of Agile teams. Unlike traditional SAFe-based RTE roles, this position operates in a more flexible Agile environment, adapting core program-level coordination and planning practices to fit the organization’s unique structure and delivery model. You will work with technology leadership to determine team capacity and allocation, creating and maintaining team and release delivery performance metrics, working with product and program management to establish a clear release priority, and driving consistency and relentless improvement across the teams. Release Train Engineers must be great communicators, adaptable, innovative, tactful diplomats, problem-solvers, thinkers, and analyzers, and they must be able to understand and respond to our partners’ needs in a rapidly changing business environment.
Your Responsibilities:
Work Intake & Prioritization:
- Partner with stakeholders to define and manage the tools and processes used to intake work requests
- Facilitate the prioritization process for technology work requests across multiple teams
- Provide visibility into the backlog and upcoming work
Planning & Execution Support:
- Support teams in planning and forecasting work, identifying dependencies, and tracking progress
- Coordinate cross-team activities and facilitate planning events (quarterly or monthly)
- Summarize and communicate planning outcomes and delivery expectations to stakeholders
- Close coordination with Release Management for every release to ensure quality and timely delivery of new features of BR.com
Delivery Oversight:
- Manage and provide visibility into supported teams' allocation information and capacity
- Provide regular delivery performance metrics to leadership and supported teams
- Assist in breaking down delivery of more complex requests that require coordination between teams
- Facilitate the escalation and resolution of impediments
- Track and manage cross-team dependencies and milestones to reduce delivery friction
Agile Enablement & Continuous Improvement:
- Lead retrospectives and work with the teams to review, analyze and improve delivery practices
- Lead the preparation of quarterly planning and summarize planning objectives after release planning
- Facilitate a Scrum of Scrums to promote alignment, knowledge sharing, and risk identification
- Work with Product, Technical Project Management, and Architecture to ensure a high quality of features and sound estimation
- Provide light Agile coaching and guidance to help resolve process issues within teams
- Facilitate system demos
- Help foster a culture of learning by running retrospective workshops for individual work groups and large initiatives
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in delivery coordination roles such as Release Train Engineer, Release Manager, Scrum Master
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and best practices; a desire to learn
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Understanding of the technical domain or an ability to quickly develop an understanding to effectively support technical risks that may arise
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and the ability to deliver sensitive/difficult information tactfully
- Client-oriented mindset
- Ability to assess problems and solve them with a sense of ugency
- Ability to motivate a team to work together in the most efficient manner
- Adaptable during times of change
- Experience with Agile planning tools and metric tracking/reporting
Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $124,186 - $198,739 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
